1965 Corvette convertible. A mongrel, it was assembled too early in the model year to have been a real big block car, but it had a 427 in it. Used it for several years as the DD. Everything worked perfectly. Did some suspension mods on it so it felt almost like a modern car. Sold it way too cheap and it's unlikely to find anything like that again with all the crazy perfectionist restorers these days.
My brother and I used to rebuild and restore C1 and C2 Vettes, back in the 80s. Even that long ago, part prices were getting out of hand... so bad, we had to quit. I recall paying over $100 for a metal clip that holds the fuel line against the early fuel injection unit. It listed for $1.97 in an old Vette parts catalog. Repairing the headlight motors on the C2 Vette could cost $600 each, if you could find a good core motor. That may not seem like much now, but $600 in the 80s was like $3000 now.

Everything was costing way more upfront than we could afford for a hobby business; door handles and latches, gauges, steering wheels, seats, engine fan, radiators, etc. To top it off, a lot of that stuff was crap when it was new.

My Xr4Ti.

I sold it for no real reason, it was running fine.

I really liked it as a daily driver. Just enough performance and a lot of utility.

Have owned 7 of them. 5 were junk/parts cars. One 86, leather. Interior was trashed as most leather XR's are. Other 86 (red) cloth, perfect condition. I T5 swapped the white one and left the T9 in the red one. White one was a C3 for a while, which sucked. Red one remained bone stock. White one had FMIC, MS3, Holset, etc. Beat up on a lot of hotrods with it. "Dood what is under the hood of that thing?" Me? 4 cylinder.

I ordered mine in Spring of 1987, and I still own it.
I didn't ever want it to be the 'one that got away'!!

Thank you so much !!!

I had a 1971 Chevelle Malibu 350 that my dad sold while I went off to college.
Bucket seats, TH350 with the 'horseshoe' shifter on the floor.
Wish that I still it!!!

My old man had a 2 door Ford Cortina when I was growing up. His first car was a ‘64 Mustang. I wished he’d kept both of those beauties, but responsibilities get in the way of fun sometimes. He’s contemplating on picking up a 5.0. I told him he should. He’s 79 and full of life still.
