I always like to know what people regret the most on any modification they do to their car. It could be I should have gone with this intake, that exhaust, spent a little bit more money to get the better version of X instead. So if you could help a new mustang owner avoid a costly mistake by a life lesson you have experienced yourself I would appreciate it.

On the contrary, I'm the type to mull over an unecessary mod for too long. So if I regret anything, it's wasting time not doing mods and enjoying them sooner.

More on track with your question though, I'm in the process of installing magnetic paddle shifters that I've had sitting around for a year, so we'll see if I like them more in theory or in practice once I report back here.

I regret installing the Steeda hood struts. One year later the mounting brackets were full of rust, so I had to remove them and go back to the good old rod - which I find I'm actually pretty happy with, so I'm not longing for another set of struts anyway.
I regret installing a red shift knob from White Madness Garage. Not only were the numbers printed in italic font rather than straight, and slightly yellowish instead of pure white, but after one year the clear coat started cracking. The cracks looked really ugly, and I could also feel them in my palm. I replaced it with an OEM Bullitt knob I've been perfectly happy with ever since.
I also regret a few other small cosmetic additions that didn't look as neat as I thought they would, and which had to be undone.

Mind you, nothing I did was irreversible, so what I regret are not the modifications themselves, but rather the not inconsiderable amount of money I spent for nothing.

Sadly, seems to be the norm with Steeda products, is they rust.

Not on my Mustang but a few years ago I went for a hot cam , what a mistake and totally ridiculous for road use. Luckily I had kept the original and did the hole job again after 6 weeks.

A Trufiber carbon fiber dash insert.

Carbon fiber dash inserts were options on GT350/500. Trufiber had what appeared to be a good reputation and sold a similar product for the S550.

The received piece arrived well and looked good. During installation though, it wouldn't seat firmly in-place, no matter what I tried.

Removing the insert and putting against a straight edge, that's when I learned it had some slight bends and twists. Products of poor production.:thumbsdown:

Seeing as how I'd already attempted to install it twice, and, leery of getting another like it :headbang:, I tossed it in the bin. Another Member later posted of a similar problem. Same company. Same piece. Probably same batch.

With some replacement clips (broke a few during the swap), got everything back together like it never happened. :whew:

Car is still fast , regular dash and all. :giggle:

A return fuel system. i really thought about wach of my mods and i couldbt be happier... ecept the most frustrating non stop fiddle bit is the fuel system. just this weekend i rebuilt a newer fpr after it wouldnt stay sealed after the engine is off causing extended crabking. i swapped to brushless pumps after 2 brushed punps died. they died because of a stuck check calve that caused them to run full tult 20 amps all day. every mod has been one and done with smile per gallon to go around. wheeeeeew axles, drag radials are a hell of a lot of fun. i would be mad if i did a clutch. the factory holds and its the weak poibt that will save my drivetrain when i break shit while launching lol. if i could do the wengurd dead head route i would.

also.... i went with the radium hat dead head system and vmp wouldbt tune it( just got there blower) so out of frustration i made a quick n dirty system w the factory feed as a return like ive done with many ither cars in the past. my last car was di only and i added a rail w a splitsecond controller. it never ever had fuel ossues all on one hellcat pump for 30k miles on a forged piston build. i am a firm believer in dead head w a provision to cycle out hot fuel when its off and been sitting.

yea and spelling miatakes... ummm i left them in on poirpose yeaaaa its sobu know im not AI! your welcome! and thats the story im sticking with lol. ill fix my spelling it w an edit when i turn autocorrect back on.

I regret installing Steeda trunk lid struts. After only a few opening and closings I noticed the forward corners of the trunk were lifting every time I closed it. The struts were forcing the corners up. I let Steeda know in an email and asked if they would refund me. No answer from them. Now they sit in a box as I reinstalled the stock struts. To make matters worse I tried the light version next and they did the same thing.

🤔 I have these on my car and I’ll have to pay closer attention to what the lid is doing once I power the car up again.

I'll probably take crap for this, but a Procharger. Yes, the car is an absolute blast to drive, but adding forced induction of any type (Not a dig against Procharger), opens a can of worms that constantly needs fixed.

I feel like I regret my choice of the BL Fab turbo system (at the moment) because it’s been one huge headache. I’ve had to modify so much, in order to facilitate the install. It’s also an extremely expensive mod to do. I’m sure my thoughts may change once the install is complete, but that’s how I’m feeling at the moment.

Think long and hard about any mods that you may be considering OP and choose wisely.

To be clear. When closing the trunk the forward corners were lifting. First with the stronger lift Steeda version. Then with the light Steeda set. Too much opposing force from the lift strut I guess. All is well with the re-install of the stock set.

Copy that. I didn’t even know they made two sets of struts. I never thought to check this. I do know that once I hit the trunk button, it pops right up, so I might have the stronger struts.
