Got my car back from my dealer today, they did absolutely nothing(except check tire balance and eyeball the drivetrain). Vibration still persists. He explained to me that he had his tech drive another 2015 with 2000 miles like my car and it had the vibration also, then he said he was going to compare it to a new 15 and see if it does it but could only find 2016's on the lot and that it had vibration but not as bad as mine (lol). I asked him when i got there if he called the tech hotline and he said no, i asked did you check the driveshaft runout and alignment or take anything off the car, he said no the techs get paid flag pay not hourly cant have them pulling tires off and pulling driveshafts out and checking runout blah blah. I asked how do you know the car is normal then, because ford has not issued a tsb for it and based on driving the other 2015 and the 2016 that had vibration like mine but not near as bad.

I asked why did it only start doing it around 1600 miles then? Surely thats not normal. "I dont know i wasnt there"

I explained how the lady i talked to on the phone from ford customer service today said that it was not normal, he said she doesnt work on cars every day.

I said this is not over and i will be back at the end of the week.

When i was leaving he said and i quote, "Its a beautiful car, if its gonna break its gonna break just run it" and also "I dont think we hit the nail on the head on this one" I did not respond to that as i was already pissed off after a long day at work.

Ford lady also told me to try another dealer if they tell me this is normal, I really REALLY do not want to have to play cat and mouse i do not have time for this bullshit.

I explained to him that i WILL be back and this WILL be fixed, and if not then the dealer WILL buy the car back from me one way or another.

Advice on which way i need to go with this?

I would file a BBB autoline complaint.

1. - Don't waste your time talking to Ford...they couldn't care less about your problems. The more you try to deal with them, the more pissed off you will get, so just save yourself the aggravation. Trust me, I've been through it.

2. - Make an appointment with a second dealer. Call your CSM, and tell them you need Ford to pay for a rental. The second dealer will give you the same bullshit about it being "normal".

3. - Repeat the process with a third dealer, who will also give you the same bullshit. They need 3 attempts to fix it before you can file a claim, so get those out of the way as quickly as you can.

4. - Contact the BBB at https://www.bbb.org/council/programs-services/dispute-handling-and-resolution/bbb-auto-line/ and ask for a replacement or repurchase. Do it ASAP; they will deduct from your settlement $.28 for every mile you put on the car until the date of the BBB hearing.

5. - Try not to think about it while you are waiting for an answer. Take up a hobby that will keep your hands occupied, or you will use them to choke the living shit out of the first person you see with a blue oval on his shirt.

Is this a huge pain in the ass? Absolutely. But it is the quickest way to get them to take your car back. The process will take 3-4 months. The only way you can make something happen faster is to trade the car in at a huge loss.

Just got back from the dealer where I drove a 2016 that is identical to mine. No vibration at the speeds mine does it- 55-73. On my car, the vibration and noise pretty much goes away above 75. It is likely a harmonic of the driveshaft- at least on mine. Since the car is only a week old, they are giving me a rental car when I bring it in on Monday.
I'm an engineer and worked for Sikorsky (the helicopter co) back in the day in Flight Test in vibrations and dynamics. I tuned lots of Blackhawks and S-76's to eliminate vibration problems. This stuff is not rocket science. You do have to be methodical and thorough, but the fact that Ford can't fix some of these cars tells me they don't want to fix them. Hopefully they fix mine because I really like the car other than the vibration.

What's also strange about this problem is that some guy say it doesn't show up until a few thousand miles down the road. If it's a drive shaft or differential you'd think it would be there from the beginning if it's going to show up at all.

Still have not heard anything from Fordservice or the service writer at my dealership who said he or the foreman would call tech hotline today and inquire about the vibration. I just submitted to BBB also. I should not have to go to another dealer for a 2nd opinion lol.

Do yourself a favor and get another opinion, you have to have three repair attempts and a final repair before you will be eligible for a repurchase or replacement. I've been through the process and won. I didn't have enough repair attempts and I had to have them all with documentation. Unless your car was out of use while being repaired for 30 cumulative days (your state may be more or less days) it's three repair attempts and a final repair. You also have to send written notice to Ford.. Don't give Ford any opportunity to win on a stupid technicality and follow the guidelines on the BBB auto line for your state.

Will do. I am going to see the manager this week and then another dealer if I get no help I guess. I wouldn't have a problem yelling my lungs off but its extremely hard for me to have the spare time to take it in and get a rental and deal with the techs and service department. It is extremely inconvenient.

LOL...the vibrations are annoying enough to the average person, but it must be a living hell for you, given your experience exorcising vibrations at Sikorsky! I am 100% certain that my head would have exploded by now if I were in your shoes. Hope they are able to get you all fixed up! Please keep us posted.

Dealerships are still groping in the dark when it comes to figuring out the S550. Piss poor training from Ford Corporate...who pushes them to call a phone number which is pretty much blind leading the clueless. Now how the hell is an "engineer" from center at least a few hundred miles away, who cannot see the problem, troubleshoot it? Go figure & you can't cause its a$$-backwards.

In my dealers defense, at least they try and go out of their way to fix things. Major inconvenience but at least they don't close the door on the customer unlike what countless others on this thread have encountered. Bad enough Ford Corporate does it...its a damn shame really. :tsk:

Found out some more detail on my situation with my wife's car. They have not swapped the actual diff yet. They have swapped other rear end drivetrain components like half shafts but have not received a whole diff yet. Ford is sending them a part here and there and so far no entire diff. They are still working on it but the service manager said to still give ford corporate a call. He said they sometimes will pay the car payment for the time the car is in service.

Dealer called this morning and told me that their vibration expert guy had driven the car and ordered a new driveshaft. Supposed to be here Friday, so I'm going to pick it up so I don't have to drive this Corolla rental car that smells like an ashtray...

Been there. Between the BBB autoline, my complaints to Ford, the fact I was at 24 days (6 days before New York's Lemon Law kicked in) out of service, and a call from Ford corporate, the differential was replaced. Keep calling Ford and seriously look into the BBB autoline. In the end, my dealer flat out said to me, "Ford does not want to lemon law this car."

Did they swap out the driveshaft yet? Why do they think it is the diff?
