Do you experience vibration and rumbling between 50 and 70 mph?

Ok fellas - my driveline vibration is G-O-N-E (for the 3rd time - isn't the saying something like, "3rd time is a charm"?)... it better be gone for good this time, because it's been a BITCH since approx 1,900 miles and 11 mos of my "new car" ownership (have just over 15k on it now).

The only sensations I can feel at this point are natural engine harmonics and road surface deviations (or tire "noise" over these same deviations).

Attached you will find THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE work order I have received to date on exactly what was performed AND it includes, specifics of actions taken and NVH readings from the MTS 4000 Analyzer tool.

PLEASE READ the work order in its entirety!!! Feel free to share it with your Service Center.

Also to note - I find it interesting as to what was documented about how one part of the test involving the MTS 4000 had to be worked around for use on the S550 (bottom of page 3 into top of page 4). This is making me wonder if other Ford Service Centers are actually using the tool 100% for all areas of testing or dismissing the use of the tool and just "saying" they used it to push the Customers back off of a lengthy warranty job.

The BIGGEST push a Customer needs to do is - go on a lengthy road test with an EXPERIENCED Shop Foreman or Tech. Explain the car HAS TO maintain the speed ranges noted where the issue is the worst and persists for a distance, not just hopping out on the road and driving around a corner and back. Be PERSISTENT with your quest to getting the desired results.

Enjoy!

Awesome dealership.
You were in excellent hands!
Glad to see they are still doing things the right way and taking care of business.
They sponsored Al Joniec's '68 Cobra Jet Mustang.

Wow. I'm blown away. I seriously doubt that you will find another dealer in the country as good as Holman! Congratulations and I hope the fix is permanent.

Anyone have the vibration subside? Mine is less now that it's colder. Still there, but what the hell? This is nice, but not good news. Confirms my suspicion than something is moving around back there when it shouldn't be.

Wow, small world dude! Pennsauken is where I was when small (as well as other family). Yes, they used to be on 73, but a few years back, moved over to 38 (a Toyota Dealer now occupies the old Rice & Holman lot). Funny you should mention Al's CJ, I had to buy the 1:18 scale die cast just because it has "Rice & Holman" and "Pennsauken" names on the body and is an exact replica of that very CJ!

No problem w/sharing the info... Feel free to show your shop what's involved. As you can see, they put nearly 50 miles on my car to perform the corrective actions - so it was no small task for them.

Yes, Holman is an excellent Dealer. I give my hand to the Tech who performed the work, he did a thorough documentation, that's for sure!

A few or a 100 miles to me, don't matter. I just want it fix. I jacked it up today and checked for rum out on the DS. Couldn't get the dial indicator close enough without removing the exhaust. I can tell ya the output yoke on the trans has play it. Now that I could get the indicator on and it's about .015 free play.

There is a reason why this issue has gone on as long as it has and the the amount of warranty work needed to properly diagnose the problem is likely #1. It's a lot of $ Ford would have to pay the dealer
to chase down this problem and i suspect they aren't terribly interested unless a good dealer--looking out for their customers interests--pushes them on this.

What's the likelihood a mediocre or worse dealer would get this involved to fix the problem? It wouldn't happen...

I have news for you, I got mine from Holman, and they flat out refused to fix my car. And even went so far as to tell me if i wanted the vibration gone I should go buy a camaro or challenger.

Sound advise, I took my buyback $$ and 2 days later bought a Hellcat Challenger - so far no issues & rides smooth as glass (like a new car should).

Funny. My dealer in Los Angeles also refused to service. They said they would not call an FSM to come look at it. They suggested I retain a lawyer and pursue the Lemon Law. So I did. About 3 months in now.

Oh mine said just to shut me up they would call an FSM but it would do no good. So they got a guy on the phone, who said there is nothing wrong with the drivetrains in these cars, he believes its the engine harmonics. And then they reported to the ford customer service lady I had been dealing with, that an FSM looked at my car.
