Man I'm sure sick03l knows what he's doing. Beside if it was out of round or wobbled no hose clamp could bslance driveshaft.
Its not a run out issues on the ds.. no clamp or weights would fix that. Ford has poor quaility control on balancing the 2 peice ds.
A simple dial indicator can tell the run out if you're curious.
And the ds self centers into the pinion flange.... hard to mess that up.

So this car has inspired me to come up with a new ad slogan for ford.

1. "The Ford Mustang, Vibrate yo life"
2. "Ford Mustang, the car for single women"
3. "Taylor Swift presents the 2017 Ford Mustang, Shake it off"

That's funny and sad at the same time.

Dial indicator for runout?!?! Don't need one! You could see the runout on mine. And I'm thinking it's like that again now. Going again on Saturday. Will update you guys. All I want is a smooth cruiser. The first V6 I test drove was like my Acura, I was amazed, that's why I went through with the purchase. I know it can be done. Still hopefull and thankful to Ford service for getting me a little extra attention. I'm a very polite and patient customer. Not going to be a jerk to my dealer who did not cause this problem. I am wondering when we will see people with 2017's starting to surface with this problem. Hopefully not.

No no man I was agreeing with you.
I think its more of tolerance slacking each piece was balanced but when everything put together now it out of balance. Wonder if somehow they can balance everything together.

The engineers at Ford are very smart. I promise it's the bean counters causing this issue.

Two questions hopefully someone can answer

1: Has anyone with a 2017 felt this issue yet? I read a post earlier on this forum from someone who traded in a 2016 for a 2017 and they said the whole drivetrain felt smoother and didn't clunk anymore. That got me wondering if Ford got its act together.

2: Has anyone given up on the dealers and had the stock 2 piece driveshaft balanced by a driveline shop? I was going to mention my slight driveshaft vibration when I go in for my first oil change but if they can't fix the problem, I was going to send the driveshaft off to the shop that rebuilt and shortened my alcoa metal matrix driveshaft for me as they do 2 piece balancing.

The only way I'd expect to blame the accounting department for this is if they picked a bad supplier.

Well I can tell you this much, I had 1 piece aluminum driveshaft put on the car which i know for a fact was balanced correctly and mine still did it. Hell it might have been worse.

One of the many things they did to my car in the 2.5 months they had it was to send out the DS (it was the 3rd one Ford had put on) to an outside shop. The shop sent it back & said it was too bad to balance.

That was when they did the hose clamp fix & declared it was 'resolved'. Fortunately for me, my LL check was in the mail, so I declined the car & just took the cash ;)

They need to balance the DS on the car since they are really balancing the flanges, nuts and pinion as well as the DS. Also, stack up run-out is a problem on these cars.

So basically I'm going to wait and see if Ford ever releases a TSB for this, otherwise I'm totally on my own. Great, I thought I was past re-engineering Ford's cost cuttings when I got away from Panther platform cars but that is clearly not the case.

I might try the hose clamp trick one weekend and see if it gets better or worse. My vibration doesn't sound as violent as some people on here who describe it like the car is imploding on itself. I can certainly feel and hear a slight rumble starting at 50 and ending at 70 though.

I've seen some people get new driveshafts, some whole new rear ends and that one guy who said his exhaust had to be adjusted. How many people have actually had this "fixed" fixed so far? It seems like when one person claims their car is now totally smooth, the resolution was totally different from the last person who said their car was fixed.

The TSB is out and calls for the ds to be properly balanced.... those of us that are now vibration free have used clamps, lucked out with a good ds replacement or lucked out with a new rear or pinion flange that matched up better with the shitty ds they had.
This is not a mystery at this point. Its the DS.. Ford is still producing shitty ones.... hence the tsb. They have a quality control issue they can't figure out or don't care too. They would rather fix it as needed with a tsb... aka clamps lol

I believe there is only SSM #45938 out to the dealers on the vibration issue and gives the dealer some direction to follow. Notice it includes 2017 models.
