Do you experience vibration and rumbling between 50 and 70 mph?

2016 V8/MT California Special owner here. I noticed the vibration on the drive home from the dealership. For mine, like many others, it comes on right around 65-70mph and goes way above. I would consider mine "moderate", but it is enough that it blurs the image in the rear-view mirror.

I purchased the car with 30mi on it. I now have close to 700 and the issue hasn't gone away. I was thinking (hoping) the issue was the tires, but after this thread...not so much. I'm taking the car in to the dealer today. I'll post back once I have them take a look.

UPDATE: Dropped the car off this AM to have all of the tests run - the tech hadn't reported anything back by the end of the day, so hopefully I'll hear back sometime tomorrow.

I did have additional information for them today. I took the car on a short trip to Sedona, AZ this weekend which is around 100mi away. This was the first real road trip I've had since the vibration started. What I noticed was the vibration isn't completely confined to the 50-70mph range. It was certainly showing up in mid-40s, getting really bad between 50-60, falling off through 70 and dissipating around 80. HOWEVER, at 80mph the vibration was still very present, it was just at such a "high frequency" that you could confuse it with the road condition. But, the rear view mirror definitely showed the vibration and I could definitely feel it in the steering wheel, accelerator pedal and parking brake lever.

So, where I thought the vibration was going away at 70mph, I'm now thinking that the frequency of the vibration simply got so high that it "stabilized." Does that make sense or am I completely off my rocker??

Your description not only makes sense, it sounds unfortunately familiar.

Just got a call from the dealership and they cant find a vibration with the vibration analyzer. They are trying to get another 2016 Mustang GT with 3.55 ratio and see if they can feel it in that car. They said if they can feel it, then it is a "characteristic of the car." If they can't feel it, then maybe there IS something wrong with my car.

"Characteristic of the car???" You mean the new redesigned 2015/2016 Mustangs are supposed to drive like garbage?? I can't believe the Ford engineers sat down and actually brainstormed on how to design an incredibly annoying driving experience.

I'm giving the dealership the benefit-of-the-doubt at this point as they have been very helpful up to this point. Let's see what they come up with.

Deysha - I have sent my info to you via PM and would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide with this matter.

I've been waiting since Feb 27th for my V6 driveshaft. Isn't that a little long? Are they unavailable? Anybody get one on a V6 in the last month. Called today and it's still not in.

From what I have read on the Ford Message Boards Ford has had some problems with ring and pinions. Supposedly backlash is out of spec at certain spots when checking it at various spots. Value changes from .010 to zero at points.

l don't believe that because you noise and vibration at all speeds. Also if you seen how ring and pinion are made (machined). Heat treating could make warp but then you have area that's soft and would wear fast have lots of metal in the oil. We all know what happens after that it wipes out bearings.

Personally I have never seen this I have built many. Never just check one spot plus you spin around to make sure it's smooth.

Apparently, they are having to make 2 or 3 driveshafts for every car and they didn't plan on that... :)

Got a call from dealer this afternoon and the good news is (??) they DID NOT get the vibration on the second mustang they drove, which confirms that there IS a vibration in my mustang. Ok - that was a round about way to get back to square 1 - they still can't diagnose the problem. So tomorrow they are going to swap the DS from the mustang that they drove today for the DS on my GT. I told them about the pinion flange and the indexing and they said they'd take a look at it. Tomorrow will be the 7th day in the shop - I bought the car on 3/4 ... 33 days ago. So, since I bought the car, it's been in the shop 21.2% of the time. Seems like I should be some sort of remuneration for that lost time.

I am thankful that FordService has contacted me today via PM (thanks, Tricia!) and provided me with a case#. I haven't heard back from the regional CSM yet, but hopefully they will coordinate with the dealership and get some resolution to this in short order.

I guess I don't get the part you said earlier in post #1209:
"Just got a call from the dealership and they can't find a vibration with the vibration analyzer."

Seems if you can feel a vibration, that the vibration analyzer would pick it up also. Wondering if they really know how to use it.

Took my car in today for this issue. They said it was definitely a vibration in the drivetrain. They are either going to do just a driveshaft or do both driveshaft and rear differential. They are waiting on ford to get back with them on what to do hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Quick question for you guys with the driveshaft problem , are you guys hearing like a blowing in a bottle noise (that's the best I can describe the noise ) at around 65mph. That's noise im experiencing but I'm getting not really getting any vibration expect a slight slight vibration in the steering wheel which I started noticing today when I drove the car .

Yep it drones the cabin and vibrates the steering wheel.
