Well, I think that it's true to an extent. The rasp was still very much there after 3.5K miles on mine. Interestingly, it seemed to be less pronounced if it was cooler outside.

I don't. There are pics in the thread I linked, however. The resonators go in the H-pipe between the brace and the cross-over pipe. I think that the louder the exhaust, the more of an effect the resonators have.

Sounds to me like the check valve is rattling. You could probably disconnect it for a short period of time and see if it still makes the noise.

Actually I was wrong. 73MPH is 2K RPM. 5th at 70 is right at 3K. It's not a 4 cylinder so I don't think 6th gear was designed for 80mph and above.
