infact, theres these crazy guys in TX running a stock S197 3.7 (though I heard its built now) they were making over 600hp at the wheels, and then they were spraying on top of that...so maybe 700 at the wheels.....on a stock motor. single turbo, around 14psi I think. maybe e85 but not sure. in any case, if the 3.7 can handle that amount of power, it must have a pretty damn good bottom end...and it does
I seen those videos of the car on YouTube and they did build the motor after it let go (no surprise). I was under the impression that the stock bottom end of the v6 could only handle up to 450whp for reliability and longevity.

450 is about the safe limit on the EB as well. Once built the V6 would have the advantage over the EB due to displacement and sharing the stress over more pistons. The EB has the advantage of mechanical simplicity and cost. (2 cams vs 4, 1 head gasket vs 2) much easier plumbing for the turbo and more room in the bay, making the EB considerably less expensive to build. Just look at MAP. If you exchange your block its like 2 k

I have owned turbo 4's continuously for over 30 years. They have all been tuned with exhausts and intakes. They all accumulated well over 100,000 miles and two had mid 200,000 miles, never had an internal engine or turbo failure. After 7-10 years of ownership it was the body and interiors showing their age not the drive trains that prompted me to move on to my next car. I expect no less from my Ecoboost Mustang.

Since the v6 makes its power at a significantly higher rpm I would not be at all surprised if it shows more signs of wear at 100k than the 2.3 Ecoboost.
Well then I wonder how the high revving Vtec honda's last for >2,00,000 miles without an engine rebuilt ;)

Boosted i.e turbo charged or supercharged put more pressure on internals of the engine compared to NA any day.

There is a big difference in "more signs of wear" and worn out. I would expect a properly maintained Ecoboost or V6 will last well past 200,000 miles too.

Of course there are more stress in a small displacement engine making the same power as a NA engine that has 50% more displacement. But if the engine is designed for that stress level it is not relevant. A simple analogy I can put a 2' long piece of 1" wide by 1/4" bar stock in the vice and I can apply enough force to bend it and if I worked on it long enough it will eventually break. Now if I was to do the same thing with a 2' long 1" by 1" piece of bar stock I could push on it with all my might until and not deflect it enough to ever fatigue it to failure.

Back when I was modding turbo Dodges they made a NA 2.2 and a turbo 2.2. Even though the visually looked the same there were some very significant differences. They turbo block was cast from a high Nickel content alloy, much stronger and wear resistant. The turbo motors got a forged crank. The connecting rods were forged from a stronger alloy. Even though they both used cast hypereutectic alloy pistons the turbo pistons had steel stiffeners cast in. The main and rod bearings were a different design that was more impact resistant. The turbo long blocks were near indestructible.

I feel like this thread got a bit off topic with crazy mod talk. I got a $26,000 2016 mustang at Fords Family sale before thanksgiving. No one wreched this car but me. added $1500 in Mods K&N CAI, Blackheart Axel backs, custom half back seat delete and an MPT tune. With out a doubt the fastest new car you can get for 27,500. EB with A\T Starts at 29,000 and with my 3.55 gears starts at 31,000. My pipes sound fricking AWESOME. No mod to the EB will ever sound as good as my pipes sound. I would embarrass a stock EB and be on the heels of the GT right up to 100mph. Finally I have throttle response that NO turbo could ever have.. Thanks MPT! My final point is who gives a crap about that 2 or 3 mpg difference you EB guys bring up. I already got $1500 to $3500 to spend on gas just to catch up with your spending.. SCHOOLED! Now get off the V6 thread.

I have no idea where you get your numbers from. Mine stickered at 27.5k. I paid 24k and change for an AT EBM. For $500 I think as running 12.5 with just a tune. For ~$1500 I was running 11.8:shrug:

Well to be fair I did list my sale price. On ford's u build it website the 2016 EB with A\T does start at 29,000. To get the 3.55 gears you have to buy the performance pack and that raise's it to 31,000. I admit you could get it cheaper but that is Ford Sticker price.

24k is what the bare bottom, no options Mustang cost. So if what you say is real, you got a great deal. 5K off of sticker price. Well done Higdom!

Let's keep it real here. An A/T V6 is $27,500 and to get the 3.55 gears you have to get the 051A package so you're at $29,000. There isn't the price difference you're attempting to imply.

Ford website says 28.5K. I guess I really did get the family discount on my car. Ok so 500 bucks different. It is still 2k more for the performance pack if you want the 3.55 gears. So now using all retail prices I am down to 500 to 2500 extra to spend on gas.

$22.4k out of door here.. But it doesn't really matter cuz now you can buy 15 V8 with 10-20k miles for $26k. All this bench racing is silly.. Mod for mod ecoboost will be faster. There is plenty of 1/4 mile time slips out there, and I still haven't seen s550 V6 in 12s running NA.

$28,930. If you want to throw out numbers, use the actual ones. The V6 needs the gear more than the EB though, so that price could be a wash as well.
