Upgrading to Sync 3.4

It sends me to a page to order an USB stick, for 43 bucks. Is that the new map 1.19? I don't want to order again 1.18, which I already paid for and upgraded...

Well, Ford is supposed to know what version you have and send you the latest. Someone here already called and confirmed it was 1.19. You could do the same and get a name. Good luck.

Maps 1.19 comes with Sync 3.4

If anyone wants to give it a try, CyanLabs has upgrade instructions for Sync 3 to Sync 3.4 (which includes Maps 1.19) - and please report back here!

But where, I only get that message with the USB stick when I enter my vin and esn number... Wait, maybe not all vins get updated the same time ??

My understanding is that mid-2018s are eligible for a Sync 3.3 update. My 2018 was built in June 2018, which I believe is relatively late in the MY (J3497). However, on the Sync update website I only see an update for Sync 3.0 and not 3.3. Anyone else with this issue?

Actually it is odd. When I first checked for an update it said "SYNC3 v3.0.19205" but when I started downloading onto my USB stick it switched to "Gen2 - V1.17".

OK, so forget about 3.3 unless you swap out the very expensive APIM. Not worth it. You can do the unofficial update to 3.4 but you will kiss your warranty on any Sync 3 issue goodbye. The latest version is 19205 as you already know. The 1.17 is your map version which is a separate download from Sync 3. You can get that update from the link mentioned above. You should get the first upgrade download for free.
