I would not pay for the Ford map update if you use Waze and Google.

Ok that's what I figured but wasn't sure if there was a chance something else might be bundled with the map update. No, the map update only updated the maps, nothing else.
Definitely won't be paying for the Ford maps. Only would if it updated Sync along with it.I would not pay for the Ford map update if you use Waze and Google.
I have a 2016 and a 2018 with Sync3. I had to pay for the map update for the 16 but the 18 (the same exact update) was free.I have a question that's partially off-topic, but also possibly somewhat related: I recently got an email from Ford trying to entice me to update my nav with a map update. Since I use Apple Maps and Waze, I felt there was no reason to pay for this update and just deleted the email. But I'm wondering, is there a chance that this "map update" could update other aspects of the Sync system as well? I have a 2017 on Sync 3.0. Would love an update that gets me to 3.3 or 3.4 if it becomes easily possible.
That's not exactly true. I had a problem on one of the two updates I did, and I had to unpack the manifest file and re-run it to get it to work. It had the files for a Sync3 software update as well as the maps. No, the map update only updated the maps, nothing else.
From Ford? The files come from two different sites. Was there any change to the build number? I was told by Ford that the maps were a standalone update based on your vin number. That's not exactly true. Both updates were direct from the Ford map update website - I paid for one, got the other one free (newer car, I guess). I've done extensive work with Forscan on the 2016 GT350, but the 2018 Explorer is stock. It's the one that didn't finish the update on the first try, and the only way to get it to finish was to open the manifest and remove some of the loader instructions - some will only process once, and it was only the last one that failed. I called the Ford help line and they didn't know what to do, so I just opened up the manifest to see what I found, and once I'd figured out how it worked, I was able to remove the offending file and it ran to completion. Still wakes up once in a while saying there's an update in process. Good software done badly, I suppose. From Ford? The files come from two different sites. Was there any change to the build number? Edit: Had a senior moment. It make sense that their would be some Sync files in with the map update. But those are not version and/or build update files.
Here you go..It certainly wouldn't be the first time . That said can you post a pic of your screen with the version and build #? I haven't heard of anyone with a pre mid 18' having V3.3 from Ford.
OK, I’m old and blind so I tried reading your post with three different pairs of reading glasses. All I see is Software Version 3.0. What am I missing? Here you go..
Yes, so it is sync3, software version3. So 3.3.... no?OK, I’m old and blind so I tried reading your post with three different pairs of reading glasses. All I see is Software Version 3.0. What am I missing?

Oh, you are saying it would say 3.3 there at version if it was 3.3 ? Before updating, I think it said version 1.0 when I did it last year after I got the car...
Show me how yours looks like.
Thanks
