Does anyone know if Ford will eventually release the 3.4 update or will it only be reserved for 2020 built cars and above such as the GT500? Someone also mentioned that 4.0 is in the works I doubt we would be able to get this because 3.4 hasn't even been released yet and 4.0 will most likely run on Fords new bigger screens only is this accurate to assume?
No one knows for sure yet. We could get the latest build for 3.4 or a downgraded version of 4.0.
Why I spoke to Ford about the map version number issue for 1.18 they said there was going to be a 3.4. But now that there’s map version 1.19 who knows.

Did the update last night on my 2017. No issues during the install. I did get the red screen but just added the software to the USB drive, inserted it, and everything worked fine. I'm loving having updated maps!! My neighborhood is finally on my GPS.

So I checked my Sync version and found I have Sync 3 ver 3.0. I'm kicking myself because I can swear I went with ver 3.3 last year. In any case, I logged info the Ford Owner site and the only version available is 3.0.

Those of you who have ver 3.3, is it available through Ford?

Thanks in advance..

I logged into Ford and swore I had 3.3 too but it only showed 3.0 as being available. I didn’t check my version before I upgraded on the head unit.

You have the older APIM so 3.3 will never be made available through Ford. Only path for you is unofficial Cyanlabs to 3.4.

Only mid 2018+ have the updated APIM and can get 3.3 officially. Again, only path is unofficial Cyanlabs 3.4.

Exactly. If I had a mid 2018+ with 3.3 I'd just wait for the official 3.4 update so you don't fall off the official OTA updates. I'm waiting myself on my 2019 Ranger w/ 3.3.

My 2018 GT350 was on 3.0. I updated to 3.4 several months ago since it'll never be updated to the new GUI. Long story short if you want to keep getting updates it'll be a manual process. And there are some intricacies to make sure you have compatible voice/nav/main sync files when you do want to update. The F150 forums were a nice source in the beginning for example and there's still a little misinformation out there.. Nothing major that'll brick your device but this is all unofficial and community driven. E.g. Installing a new sync build with an old voice pack. Just an FYI.

Thanks @Bikeman315 :like:

Not that important to me so it’ll be one less thing to worry about. The way I figure it, the car is about 1/5th on its way to being an antique so many things are gonna fall by the wayside.

Dumb question but do you still have the ford performance and snake logo splash screen? I’d hate to lose that.

Yes. I still have the logo...everything. some things I have seen.

1. If you have people pics by their name, it shows on screen now in a call.
2. Nice blue screen for night mode.
3. Scroll ribbon bar for stations. So no more 3 bar, you just swipe left or right and you can put 18 stations up on the bar.
4. Cleaner font.
5. More phone options ? It seems so.
6. Background changes, you can change the colours.
7. Text for the music cleaner.

Some more stuff, bu this is what I noticed most.

I believe you are wrong. I have a 2016 GT350R and I upgraded to 3.3.. Officialy, through Ford's web site. It showed "there is a software update available to you" last year when I logged on with my VIN.
Right now, I did an update check over wi-fi in the car and it shows no updates available...

It certainly wouldn't be the first time :giggle:. That said can you post a pic of your screen with the version and build #? I haven't heard of anyone with a pre mid 18' having V3.3 from Ford.

I have a question that's partially off-topic, but also possibly somewhat related: I recently got an email from Ford trying to entice me to update my nav with a map update. Since I use Apple Maps and Waze, I felt there was no reason to pay for this update and just deleted the email. But I'm wondering, is there a chance that this "map update" could update other aspects of the Sync system as well? I have a 2017 on Sync 3.0. Would love an update that gets me to 3.3 or 3.4 if it becomes easily possible.

No, the map update only updated the maps, nothing else.
