noisiest thing I've had inside the car so far is my wifes ass cooler. so loud she even asked today what that staticy noise was before she realized what is was...unfortunate to hear this. I have not had a problem with locking out on mine.
That part is a significant source of NVH though. A lot of owners, myself included, have what sounds like a "gear hiss" and that slider ( or what ever it connects to and activates) contributes to it.
If I'm driving normally or hard, and I pull up on the slider, I can hear the hiss go away. Granted, I probably wouldn't have noticed, it but there is an audible difference with the slider up. Now when I really want to enjoy the sound of the car, I will shift with the slider up.
