22 F250 diesel here, 24 ft enclosed, great mileage, very stable towing, braking is no issue. Go 3/4 ton you won't regret it. Once you add ll th e extras you need at the truck you will need it.

F150 Powerboost, but any F150 will do. Thousands of miles, no problems.

I've had great luck with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi. I had a '20 GC Summit Hemi with the air suspension that worked great, no complaints other than I never liked the shock valving for street driving - it was soft and I felt it was under damped.

I replaced it with the SRT 6.4 Hemi mostly because I just wanted something more fun for driving daily and it does not disappoint. Tows great, gets about the same mileage towing or not, but no worse than a truck. I wouldn't recommend it for a closed trailer but it hauls my 5300 lbs with ease.

Another vote for F150. Mine's a 2023 Powerboost, 4x4.
I've had a few people tell me that F150's aren't up to the task and you really need a HD truck.....not true. This thing pulls up long inclines without the slightest hesitation. Zero concerns.

Pretty much every shot shared here is an open trailer. For an enclosed trailer, a Super Duty level truck is the way to go. No question. GM, Ram, or Ford all have suitable units. Gas or diesel.
Attached is my 2017 Expy with my Fox on the trailer. The Fox is replaced with a 2018, the Expedition replaced with a 2023. Both 3.5EB with tow package. Never had an issue with either.

any half ton truck with the non-base work trim motor will do the job. any half ton truck can run 200k miles or 200 miles with issues-one never knows. everyone always posts up the negatives but you never hear about the literally hundreds of thousands of trucks running around without any problems.
3/4ton will always tow better but usually have added total costs of ownership. if only towing occasionally I'd do half ton. and your employees won't notice as much :)

I used to have wakeboats tipping the scales at almost 7k loaded down with gear/fuel/1500lbs in lead. had a '00 f150 7700pkg that towed them just fine from 100k to 180k when i sold it. bought a '16 silverado z71 that had zero issues as well. 75mph back and forth to the launches and mountain grades with no problem.

Another vote for the Powerboost F150. Plus, you can fire up a griddle, coffee maker, microwave etc. to make lunch, and a compressor to air up/down your tires

I have had no issues with my 2010 Tundra 5.7

as other have mentioned the newer ones don’t have the reliability. If you go with a 2.5 Gen (2014-2021) you may have to add a trans cooler (kits available). Tow capacity is 10.8k for the 5.7.
the only down fall is gas mileage compared to other half tons. Towing from Baltimore to Roat Atlanta required quite a bit of stops for my liking. I plan to add a 46 gal tank. Otherwise it’s a great reliable vehicle.

You could back up to a 10K enclosed before you notice you're towing something.
Much bigger than 28 or 30' and you start to need a dually for the cross wind stability.

In my experience with towing a Mustang to the track.

I Started with: RAM 1500, Kurt weight distribution hitch, open steel trailer = no issues weight wise, drivability or wind gusts, everything was good.

Next step was an Enclosed 24ft flat nose trailer = no issues weight wise, pulling or gearing, installed Bump stops on truck to prevent squat.. however, this was not a nice ride, the front end of the truck felt light, the cross winds and Semi’s on highways used to influence and sway the rig. When you get into 8hr tow to tracks it is very noticeable.

After a few trips Raleigh to Atlanta, something had to change.
The 1500 was not pleasant, it was great as my daily, but not good as a tow vehicle, particularly as I had also purchased a 32ft Camper..
I took some time to research Gas / Diesel, gearing, suspension, tow weights, tongue weights etc.. even adding airbags to the 1500, it’s weight compared to the enclosed trailer and a fat Mustang Inside was borderline safe.

The decision was to step up to a HD Truck (2500), although it would still be my DD with only 15% towing time. I found Used / low mileage availability’s an issue - HD trucks are either work trucks (tradesman) or fully loaded high end (spec and $$)tow vehicles. Diesel was the typical choice, but not ideal for a DD, they like to run long and hot, not short trips to work, stores etc.
I stumbled upon a Ram 2500 Power Wagon, which has a bit of both worlds, off road package, lifted, Heavy Duty, Gas V8 and capable towing (not as much s std 2500) but enough for all my needs.

IMG_0055.webp

Comparing the size of the 2500 to the 1500, it’s enormous. Everything is so much more robust, frame, suspension, tow hitch etc..
the Power wagon is almost the same size as the trailer, it pulls fantastic, has been stable in all weather I have encountered.. but does suffer MPG of course as a gasser.

This is just my experience over the last 10 years, others may agree / disagree.
Good luck in your search.

One word of caution.. whatever length of Enclosed trailer you may buy.. you will want/need a few feet longer than the one you have…

If you have a place to park it, a class C or class A RV could tow up to 8000 lbs on some models, and they arent much more than a pickup truck. Bonus is you can stay in it instead of hotels etc and also go on other trips unrelated.

My current setup. Cant flat tow the mustang though obviously and that would defeat the point for you, youd need to have it in the trailer. Tow capability of a RV like this is 8000 lbs. And you can find some similar to this or a bit older for 60-70k. Its an E450 chassis. I live in this full time currently.
