I was shocked to learn that the GT Premium doesn't include the 2-3 piece strut tower braces. (firewall, strut tower, and lower K-member?) Guess I took that PP1 package for granted. Can anyone speak to the improvement when added to a non-equipped GT?
There is another piece that ties it all together. I forget the name of it but it is a small 6 inch piece. It needs this part. There is a thread here that lists all the part numbers.

Yes it makes a big difference in the feel of the car.

and there was a surprising amount of clutch dust on the magnets.
Does that look like black sludge ?

Yup, it's very fine though.
I had some of that on them then even at 2.5k ...

This has been off the off the car for about a year now, the magnets had been removed, loosely wiped over (not cleaned properly) and then the cover had been wrapped and stored. You can still see that residue in the dimple on the magnet :

When I acquired the cover, the fill magnet (which hadn't been removed) was full and almost level with the recess on the cover.

Its grey / black, feels almost like CV grease, and doesn't want to come out from under my nail ... :giggle:

It must have some metallic properties as it's only on the magnets when the rest of the internal cover is very clean.

I'm not sure how useful we'll find the forward facing adaptive cruise control / self driving mode BS, if it is possible/desirable/valuable enough to remove and sell? lol

I think I read a few yeas ago that Ford can collect speed data and even report it to insurance? Anything to this as well as options to knock that BS off?

I saw several cars for sale that had a GPS delete option IIRC.

ETA: This is what I was thinking, which this car has: 4G LTE WI-FI HOTSPOT REMOVAL

Well, I was also going to ask another question, but just noticed the tread got bumped out to trans & drivetrain. :\

The GT actually came with a real spare tire, (beefy looking black cast aluminum wheel?) however she is on the P Zero Nero run-flats. Is this just dead weight, or a traction control feature? ;)

Torsen all day long and twice on Sunday! My ‘22 HPP is my first with a Torsen - my 5.0 has a TractionLoc which feels like a compromise vs the Torsen. The Torsen just does everything better, smoother, and more predictably. From hard launches, to aggressive cornering, to a nice back road set of twisties, it just feels good. The surprise was how startlingly competent the Torsen was on snowy, slippery roads this past winter. Just twist to Snow/Slippery mode and soft-shoe the pedal. Or, you know, hammer it and drive with the tail hanging out all the time!

As for the Galaxie, you can install a Eaton /Detroit TruTrac in that 9", & it will operate very well.
They produce a 50%/50% torque bias, per axle, when engaged.

TracLocs are barely 60%/40% at best.
As the clutch plates wear, that bias diminishes.
An open diff is what provides even torque on the axles. A locker produces equal speeds. You can't have both. I'm not sure what you're percentages are meant to represent.

The torsen has a higher TBR, 2.5:1 if I remember correctly. The Trak-Loc is something less than 2? For sure, the torsen locks more and is the one to have. A TruTrac from Eaton is essentially the same thing as the torsen.

I've contacted them (twice) about TBR but got no response :

If you remember Brian, those numbers were his. I think the 'normal' torsen was 2.5 and there was a competition version which was around 3.

How does a Wavetrac compare to the Torsen? Specifically, is it also a no wear, install-and-forget item, just like the Torsen?
How about its reliability? Is it comparable to the Torsen's?

That looks interesting, but I think the Giken would be top on my list to try.

I hate to hijack this thread but I have a dumb question about the Track-Loc LSD. Do the track-loc diff clutches wear out from just normal daily driving (no hotrodding or spinning of wheels)? Or do they only wear out when you do powerslides, burnouts, hard accel in turns, etc? I'm just wondering what the life of a Track-Loc is when it's driven gently.
