So I noticed that Cobb finally went to production with stage 2 and stage 3. Stage 2 includes their intercooler with what appears to be a similar size to both MAP and Mishimoto but may have slightly more depth, front to rear (which wouldn't add a whole lot as the intercooler loses efficiency in that direction). The price tag is a whopping $850 and I'm struggling to see the value here but am still intrigued. If I were gonna invest that sort of coin I'd go with ATM but then again wouldn't go that crazy unless I was going to track my car. Right now I'm running with mishimoto and it's pretty effective.

So big question here is why would I spend so much on this new Cobb intercooler?

I'm gonna grab the accessport and turbo back exhaust but probably stick with mishimoto for now.
I have to agree. $850 does seem like an awfully high price-tag. Considering Full-Race has the IC+Piping for $800, Levels has their IC+partial piping for $529, and ATM is $659 for only IC. All of these guys are considered the highest rated ICs in the game right now, so for Cobb to come in $100-200 higher than their competitors without piping included... seems odd. I know their name alone will sell but seriously? How many of us are even pushing our Ecos beyond what MAP/Mishi are rated for?

You'd need a full exhaust swap, meth kit, and e-tune to even break near 400rwhp, let alone the 500rwhp that the smaller ICs are rated for. Past that, you really can't even get to 500+ without building a new block and buying a fatass turbo. Idk. I can't see $850 making sense here when there are cheaper, entirely adequate options available.

Someone else wanna chime in here?

Are the shutters only active with cruise control or all the time?
Doesn't matter, you'll have to remove them to install any aftermarket FMIC I believe

We took them out on ours, cleans up the front end too

What's the gap between the performance of the levels intercooler to the MAPerformance intercooler? Is there not much of a gap performance wise?

I would imagine the performance gap isn't all that big. But with the surface area on the Level's being bigger it would simply resist heatsoak for a longer period of time. I could be dead wrong though.

know this questions bin asked 100 times but iv bin trying to get the to look through the fourms for past few days to look at all the post and reviews

i see some ic for 900 and some for 400 know a lot of variables and quality come in to play
but if I'm only doing a tune and a blow off valve am i going to see a big difference giving 400 vs 900

If that's all you're doing save your money, I would use those 500 towards something else you're wanting

The Levels if you plan on taking your car on the track for road racing and Map or Mishi for daily driving and a drag strip run. I love my Levels, great price, quality and efficiency. Worth every penny.

I have one of the first production run MMR intercoolers ($399 intro price) and it keeps temps down as good as or better as any other I've seen posted about.
