I agree the reviews are a little less than ecstatic about the car, but I'm still probably getting mine. I want a sports car, I want it NOW, (not waiting for a '16 Camaro). The Mustang fills the need in the looks department, it's faster than what you "need" 98% of the time, and most won't be driving it 10/10ths on the street. I also have heard the new Camaro won't look significantly different than it does now, so other than performance, the Mustang has me sold on looks alone.

What I got out of the reviews is same 0-60 better stopping with the Brembo break package .1 seconds slower worse gas mileage but handles better and is a better driving experience. The car is going to have to sale on looks and handling alone because it is not the fastest or most fuel efficient
Is the 90's all over? Mustang highest sales but worst performer when Chevy brought back the LT1 in 93? Haunting......

I find it hilarious that half the people posting are dependent on magazine reviews for their buying decisions.

Go drive the damn car.

Sounds to me like the GT PP I ordered will be a blast to daily drive (I have a commute filled with canyon roads), while also being reasonably comfortable when I'm not in the mood to go nuts.

It also sounds like I will need to purchase an exhaust or delete the stock mufflers on the way home from the dealer and will need a set of Ford Racing springs after losing to a few modded e90 M3s at the track.

Oh and I definitely made the right choice to skip the ecoboost.

It's all we have, so why is that hilarious? We'll drive them as soon as we possibly can. Trust me. :D

In my opinion, I didn't feel much excitement from any of the reviews I just read. Based on that I'd say the new Mustang is going to have a hard time competing with the Camaro or Challenger for new customers.
I agree with this. You know will always get brand loyalty but when consumers look at comparison tests they may choose other options. The ECO is very similar to last years V6!

alot of negativity here.... i personally think the reviews were pretty good, considering there was no basis for comparison other than their own expectations...

I want to see the GT PP on a track with the 1LE and with the M4 and see how when back to back some of the complaints actually extend to all the vehicles.

for example being "not perfectly balanced" can change to "better balanced than the other two but not perfect" reading all the mags i see this all the time

It's hilarious to seek out or solicit others' opinions on a retail product? Do you impulse buy the first flat screen TV you see on Amazon's home page? Why should a car be any different?

My thoughts on the key points from the reviews of the GT - PP

Suspension - mixed opinions on handling
Handling - Most say As good or just about as good as Boss 302, though there is disagreement on that point, a step up from old GT track pack is universal
Ride comfort - universally much better
Steering - universally thought of as very good, at or near boss 302

Gearbox - seems to be universally better, especially noted a few times that it loves fast shifts

5.0 - torqueier across a broader powerband
Sounds - good but most say too refined (quiet)
From most, I took the main thing they pointed out which was heavier and worst MPG. Ford going to continue to get nailed on these 2 points.

I think a lot of us already drive Mustangs and these numbers just don't impress at all. We all realize it's limited seat time with a new chassis, motor, etc., but as someone else said, the initial reviews of a car are generally very flattering and then slow decline over time. These aren't even starting out that flattering.

Yeah, I'm sure IRS would be nice for ride comfort and the steering feel and handling are probably improved. But, for someone like me with a 2013 and a few aftermarket mods (Eibach suspension kit, for instance), there just doesn't seem to be enough to really justify the cost here.

A lot of us were concerned about the weight when it leaked, then the horsepower/torque figures as well. It seems those concerns may have been well founded.

Yes, it'll be an overall better car, and probably have a lot more potential to tap into, but I'm not sure I can justify it now. Perhaps waiting for the 2016 or a GT350 would be more in order for me.

The suspension complaints are pretty alarming... if you bought a 11-14 I'm sure you've realized they put scrappy control arms, sway bar and even a weak drive shaft...the part where it complains about the front and rear not being in sync that scares me

There were a couple impressions from R&T's staff that were very positive, but most of the reviews overall could be described as a bit tepid and measured.

The handling improvement doesn't seem to be the home run people were expecting, especially on the Ecoboost, which MT said handled a bit sloppy considering its better weight distribution.

I know I might get slammed, but I'm not going to be in any hurry to buy one after reading these initial reviews. Maybe more detailed ones will change my mind later.

The Ecoboost performance times are disappointing, and the GT got slower.
This is what happens when your rear track is significantly wider than your front track. It is also what happens when you widen your rear wheels and tires... V8PP I'm looking at you. Lets add UNDERSTEER because everyone loves a chassis with copious amounts of understeer (Fox bodies I'm looking at you).

I've thought this from the day we heard the weight numbers, Ford is getting lazy and it shows. They had the opportunity to really hit a home run with this generation of cars and they hit a mere double. The enthusiast market has a lot of work to do to bring these cars up to speed. I would start looking heavily at our "beloved" new front suspension and ways to increase front track. New Fenders might be required for that too but it will be worth it to ditch the narrow front track vs the rear track.

As for sloppyness, I'm not worried about that. About $700 worth of good shocks/struts will cure a lot of that feeling. I got the impression that it was a transitional issue and not a spring rate issue (although I'm sure there is that too) so a good set of rebound adjustable Koni Yellows will probably rid the car of most of the sloppy feeling.

I'm extremely curious to see what the aftermarket has in store. I'm sure it'll be great, but I'm not exactly clamoring to buy one either... never was. These curb weights are as equally depressing as some of the performance numbers.

I'd agree w/ this completely! I was saying in another thread I kinda feel like Ford in it's urge to play up the 50th Anniversary celebration of this car and giving us 10+ months of build up kind of over-played it's hand. Then when we didn't get a gold plated jet fighter that shoots sonic booms out of the tail pipe and had a soft server ice cream dispenser in the glove box the reviews are all like " . . . meh? I mean sure it has a skid pad number of nearly 1G and a 60-0 stopping distance w/ in 15 ft of a Corvette, but somehow it just didn't make me cum in my pants enough!" Seriously people, we're still talking about a mass produced car that has to have relatively wide appeal.

One other thing to consider as well, while some folks are holding out for comparison tests against the Camaro, BMW, etc. I'll actually be interested to see an instrumented comparo test against the 2014 car, even the vaunted Boss 302 vs a GT PP car. People tend to remember more fondly and less objectively what they're already used to but I won't be surprised if this car absolutely spanks the previous car - which by all accounts was a pretty good car even w/ the antiquated live axle.

I wanna see what a non premium GT PP will do. I've thought this from the beginning and I'll reiterate now the premium adds a lot of weight with the gadgetry and "creature comforts."

I really don't think the premium adds much weight at all if you are comparing recaro seat variants. With stock seats I bet the premium does add a bit more, but with the recaros I'm willing to bet there's less than 25lbs between premium and base.
