:amen: I read these things too, but really just for the pictures. Automotive Journalism isn't what it used to be.

My 2 cents......Ford left some on the table thank goodness. Who HERE wouldn't want a car/truck/airplane/tank that we can tinker with and say to our significant other...."Lookie what I put on my car/truck/airplane/tank! Its so shiny and makes me go faster/handle better/look cooler/blow more stuff up!!"

Personally, I want that satisfaction that comes with putting the work in myself! Isn't that what this country is about folks!:usa: So to Ford, I say thank you for firstly giving my Dad a Job for 27 years and letting him retire....Second, thank you for making this vehicle for 50 years and giving me the opportunity to have a piece of American history in my garage! and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

What concerns me is the undertone of "if you push it hard on a track, it shines"..There were comments that it was fat and squishy (not exact words) when it wasn't being pushed. That, to me, says boring DD and not much fun. That is about the worst thing that could be said about this car.

I'm not happy about worse numbers but I'm NOT willing to have less fun. This is why I didn't preorder and why I'm glad I waited on a test drive. I've made no bones about the fact I dont trust reviews so I take this with a grain of salt until I see what is to offer myself.

They tried to make it all things to all people - literally, the entire world. It never works. Better to pick what's most important to you and your brand, and go for it.

Some editors seemed ecstatic about wanting one to own or drive again in the future. Others seemed completely non-phased by the whole thing. There were very few neutral opinions.
"Non-phased" by the whole thing? I'm honestly not sure what you mean by that...

My reasoning being the 13 Mustang hung with the E92 M3 in straight line performance and twisty's so natural evolution or progress would be to compete with them or Surpass the New gen BMW. Price aside ofcourse strictly performance

I can see this perspective but the E92 M3 AFAIK is the only M3 that could be bested on the track by the same gen Mustang.
E30 M3 > Fox,
E46 M3 > Sn95

so if this mustang is slower than the new M3 on the track, things will just be as they have been, with the E92 gen being a blight on BMW. M3 costs so much more it isn't a diss to the stang to be a few ticks slower.

"This is the best mustang ever, the best ponycar ever, a mutant with DNA from the Fox 5.0 and the BMW e46 in seemingly equal measure." - R&T
Is that suppose to be a piss take or a compliment - E46 is 15 years old BTW, doesn't sound like a great comparison too me.

Too heavy - that's coming out of most of these reviews - big concern.
Wallowy when pushed hard - that's a concern for us cornering loving drivers.

I agree with you, not sure if it applies to the Mustang since we have not driven it yet but I do know the high centered front end design on the Mustang and other Ford cars is because of the European pedestrian safety standards. But I can tell some things such as the switchgear for the turn signals and wipers are definitely the European version now.

One example of the huge compromise is the new Ford Escape. It's simply too small because of the European influence compared to the old US designed escape. Two of my family members have purchased the new Escape (one of them owned a first gen model) and both of them complained within the first few weeks of ownership that it's just too small. Not enough storage areas, the center console got smaller. They could also fit much bigger items in the back of their old Escape and now they will need another vehicle to haul certain items. Hell, I have sat in the back seat with three across and it's very tight with three normal sized people.

I believe it's a compliment.

The e46 is wonderful.

Who said it was bad on the corners? Only thing I saw was that you had to steer with the throttle (boo hoo)

Jeremy Clarkson would say this is b/c Americans are fat, lazy, boorish and clearly over concerned hauling around too many material possessions . . . b/c clearly Jeremy Clarkson is the picture of the svelte, conservatively spoken minimalist European. :frusty:

This. I think he was referring to the driving feeling of the e46 which still has a BIG following today.
