there was a member near me went to dealer for springs only cost 400. I was waffling & bit the bullet & did them myself. "if" you buy the spring compressor, jack stands & jack & do it yourself your WAY ahead. I did sways struts shocks & springs on jackstands in the garage. total time about 6-7 hours.

now this is not what I do so it would be done by "pros" in half that time with lift & air tools.

do it yourself, you will be happy you did

I usually charge $200 for springs and $250 for springs and shocks and that includes alignment.

So I was super stoked to get my BMR springs in the mail today!! .....

UNTIL...

I was given an install estimate by my local "go to" shop of $815 incl. alignment...

Is this legit? That seems crazy.
Stupidly overpriced. I'm paying $350 for front & rear springs install plus front struts & rear shocks install. This is from a high end shop that mostly does BMW, Mercedes & Porsche.

Thats cheap, sometimes they charge more as you have to drop the sub frame

It's a bit of a hike from you, but i remember seeing a post from a guy I met on here using a shop in NYC that charged like $250 all in. Was pleased with the work.

The only way to get the springs out is to drop the subframe. It's just 4 bolts to drop the frame. Easy.

Hmm, l was told by a local "mustang performance shop" that they don't lower the subframe on the S550 cars. They said they have a compressor they use? Pretty tight back there and didn't think there was room for a compressor.

I haven't paid for anything to be done to one of my cars in so long, I can't remember. Maybe 2002? I had some gears installed in my '98 Cobra.

LOL@ 8 hours. We took 8 hours to do it in the garage, but we broke the spring compressor on the first spring, and it was stuck on the stock spring. AND were installing other shit at the same time. Finished the job without a spring compressor, too...

And we took a "go clear our minds" break for an hour in the middle.

After doing it once, the two of us could probably bang out a set in under two hours. Might even get it done in one if we hustled.

I did my Evo in about 2 hours, and that thing has struts on all four corners that had to have the springs removed, and new springs installed.

Buy a single action strut/spring compressor. Thank me later.
