This might be a dumb question but I know absolutely nothing about spark plugs. I have a 2015 v6 mustang and on fords oem list it shows that I need motorcraft sp-589 spark plugs, but those are copper, I want iridium. Will the sp-550 work fine or is that not made for the 2015 models? Also is aftermarket better or stick with motorcraft?

Thank you! Bosch is a good brand but I want to stick to motorcraft since it’s oem, and there lies my issue that google isn’t being my friend currently since I can’t find a clear answer if the sp-550 spark plugs will work. On the manual it says sp-589 but I don’t want copper if I can get iridium. My guess is they will work they’re just the iridium version but I want to make sure, It’s weird I think oreilys says will fit vehicle but autozone says it won’t

update: i think 550 is for ecoboost so sp-520 is what I’m looking for if oreily is correct, but now I’m debating if I should go with Bosch or autolite instead 💀💀

Thank you guys for the help! I’m leaning towards ngk now but the oem ones from motorcraft are 4.99 each and the ngk ones are 12.99 each, is it worth that price jump? I know iridium lasts longer but other than that are the claims of a performance boost true?

@angelg1674 , if you want to roll with Iridium, just upgrade to the NGK plugs. Be sure to gap them properly.
I think that’s what I’ll do thank you! Only thing is what do I need to gap it to for a 2015 mustang v6 with minor upgrades nothing crazy I don’t have a turbo or anything

I don't like the huge gaps. Not sure if the V6 uses the same plugs as the 5.0 or eco boost but I use the eco boost plugs. One step colder and come with a smaller gap.
