Ya, I'm cheap and I kinda like doing it, so I'm doomed to be sore every once in a while.

Good runs by both of you. They were both big/heavy/dumb car friendly courses, which is cool to see. It seems like I'm always trying to thread the needles made by Miata-driving course designers. Running on a track like Ken's course is pretty much as good as it gets without doing Time Attack.
Thanks. Yeah it is a pretty good site. My first time out there 2 years ago I got humbled.

275 40 R18 on 18x11 doesn’t look totally foolish. I’m definitely looking forward to the time after I burn through several sets of 275 tires and get something wider on there.

The lip of the wheels is going to get wrecked from cone smear like this.

Many people who complain about Yokos have not set pressure specifically for the tire. A few more psi is definitely needed compared to re71r or rt660. I’ve saved a few people’s day by simply saying “adds few psi”

Why did you go with the 275 versus like, idk, the 295/35 or even 315? Too short?

I've been hemming and hawwing for, literally, years, about coming back to autocross, but it looks like I may have committed. I just repaired a majority of the issues from a bad day on bad tires at the SA Church lot in 2015, and bought wheels that arrived yesterday, so I guess I've decided I'm committed. I haven't been on-course since 2015 nats. Life has been solidly in the way. Things are a little bit more settled.

NightmareMoon looks like he could use some more competition, so we'll see if I can remember how to do this.

18x11's, but not sure on rubber yet. 305's or 315's. Spacers come tomorrow for beginning test fits.

It's a 2015 GT, Base 3.31 diff, pretty stripped of all plastic, weighed 3595 on Terry Fair's scales before lightening. I'd guess it's low-mid 3500's now. Rear seat delete, race seats, race battery, new camber plates, Brakes, and a decision on suspension sometime in the next month. Hope to get solidly into the mid-low 3400's.

It's on new Pedders now, as after I fixed the cosmetic stuff, I was just going to sell it, but decided against it. If I had to guess, I'll likely go for Ohlins or MCS around march-april if the poor thing holds together. The Pedder's are making noises in the back, which may be old spring Isolators, not sure. If anyone has hints on that, it would be appreciated. I have lots o' suspension bits and pieces to replace, and god knows what else.

These wheels seem too light and cheap to be durable.

I spent 3 years on Pedders setup. I even drastically increased the spring rate with them. Car performed quite well with them....car is so much better now (and so am I) with the MCS doubles, though. Don't forget to make your way down to Beeville for the Texas Tour in May. Some strong CAM cars/drivers in this part of the state.

I could definitely use the competition. I'll be there tomorrow bright an early for the last SASCA event of the year (something like 15 cars entered in CAM too), but it sounds like you're targeting next season.

Don't sweat the coilovers too much. You don't need super expensive parts to compete well in CAM at most local and TX region events. As long as you can firm up the shocks enough to control the car through transitions, you should be ok. Heck, I was on Konis for 4 years and the last couple of years in CAM and still won plenty.

FWIW, I'll probably enter in X next year and let some new people slug it out for the CAM class trophy.

I may come out and watch, but yes, next year is the target. I just couldn't decide for a long time, and my surprisingly fun, paddle shift auto, 230i, was a really attractive alternative, but would have had trouble in just about any class (d-street, and stx, I think...)

It will be interesting, as I don't know this car not on eibach lowering springs, stock shocks, and sway bars. It was hilariously bouncy. It's relatively stable on the pedders on street. I'll try it with those, and then decide on the ohlins or MCS DA's. I think there is a $1k difference between those.

Just keep it light as possible and drive smooth. Might be all it needs. I was around long enough, that I'd probably get browbeat into X class if I was doing well. We'll see. The only year I really took it seriously was 2012 in a partially prepped, STX WRX. Todd Roberts and I were trading wins all year long, him in a mazdaspeed 3.

cheap has nothing to do with it. But why not just quit hitting stuff?
It's texas, they don't like to spend $$$ on infrastructure here. Just the roads can be treacherous. Joking aside, shouldn't hit stuff with appropriately sized rubber. Back in '15 we were literally waiting on a slow boat from Japan to deliver RE-71r's in anything larger than a 275, and it took two weeks too long for me, and ran spent Hankooks one weekend too many.

How have people that have done it, feel about going away from the rear divorced spring? Benefits? I'm guessing some weight reduction, and spring change speed, at least.

Also, is it just me, or is the Cortex xtreme-grip, the exact same set as the Shelby doubles, which supposedly are Penske's ? Or does everyone use the same chinese built outers (I'm assuming) and put their own shocks or internals in them ?

The Ridetech's look like for around the same price are Triples with remote res. ? Anyone with experience?

picked up a co-driver for next year and considering a switch to 18x11's from 19x11's. "Problem" is for this to work, I'd probably need to drop to 3.31 gears. Hmmm.

Or...just stick to the 19x11's.

Decisions, decisions.

What 18's? Many are larger than 19's.
