Where do you sign up for the CAM Challenge events?
All of them except the very last one (Peru) are really Pro Solos that has CAM-specific challenge round added to the end (in addition to three regular challenges on Sunday) - to which you have to qualify.

Pros are serious fun since they have tree start but CAM is index class between C, T and S (and Pro Solo Index is different than regular Pax).

You sign up for them on msreg.com and registration opens Wednesday 4pm EST about 6 weeks before the event (week earlier for Super Pass holders). Some of these sell out very quickly.

Charlotte Pro registration opened yesterday.

Did you get registered (it's a Pro Solo btw, not quite dedicated CAM challenge like the one in Peru in August) ? Registration for non-superpass holders opened today, only one S550 signed up to date and pretty sure it isn't yours ;-) Largest class though.
Not yet, but I'm planning on it here in the next week or so. Waiting to hear back on my PTO request for Thursday and Friday, as I want to do that Starting Line event as well.

Just FYI - that Starting Line event is what used to be Evo Holeshot school - they talk about how ProSolo works and do tons of practice starts from the tree, but there is no actual driving on the course in it.

Yeah, I could really use the practice starts though. Especially on these new tires.

Also being my first pro solo event, a bit of education ahead of time can't hurt.

And I can definitely think of worse ways to spend a Thursday. :D

Definitely worth doing (I've done holeshot before my 1st Pro - and it made things much easier) - was more trying to make sure you know it isn't a "normal" Starting Line event.

I looked at the entry list for the March ProSolo event and saw it was already at 187, so I went ahead and made it 188.

Also, I had a mobile tire service come out to get my Falkens mounted today. RT660 305/30ZR19 on LMR SVE SP2 19x11s. I can try to get pictures and weights later. Fitment looks good. For what it's worth, the tire guy said these mounted a lot easier than the same size RE71Rs.

After a pretty brutal last 2 weeks away on a work trip, I'm finally back and get to play with my car. I felt the rear spring rate was too stiff last time I ran, so I'm dropping 200# and seeing where we end up. I'm also running a longer spring to give that a go.

What you're seeing in the picture is a 8x2.5" 750 #/in spring on the Mike Maier weight/jacker ride height mounts. The blue aluminum spring perch is called a Hyperco hydraulic spring perch. It allows the spring seat to 'wobble' to accommodate the arc as the spring is compressed. It's riding on Torrington bearings to allow for easier turning of the weight jacker when the spring is preloaded.

I don't have the car on the ground, yet, but hopefully the ride height is acceptably low, because I don't have room to go further down right now. If it's not, I have an 850 x 7 x 2.5 that will take its place. Ya gotta cover all the bases.

Nice find on these. Might be worth getting this and taking out my helpers. The lower perch of the MMI setup already rotates freely, so not seeing why torrington is needed up there?

Any special fitment needed to install on the MMI upper?

It appears that car that ended up first on last weekend's PS1 is Steeda's Ecoboost build with their tech as drivers. There was lots going on that event I've heard, but Steve Waters (2nd) is a legit top CAM driver.

Welcome back!

The Torrington might not be strictly necessary. Consider it a choice of habit. There is nothing tricky about installing the perch, it's just a fancy spacer. I did get 1.5mm thick rubber sheet & cut out a donut to put between the chassis mount & the top of the perch in an effort to avoid a metal on metal situation.

Thanks.

I wonder if it makes more sense to have on the lower perch to avoid the chance of rattle due to unloading the suspension. Gravity assist.

Maybe. I kinda wanted something between the spring & the perch so I didn't mess up my new pretty piece. A single thrust washer would have done the same. With the 7" spring, there's not much rattling at full droop. Because of all the angles, it is always engaged a little bit. If you want to run a stiffer rate, you would probably want to have a 6" spring.

Yeah I already have the 1200# 6" springs on the car.

Here's a neat video of how they felt a rear gear change helped their car at this event:

Interesting they went for 3.73 and 3rd. I saw they signed up for Dixie Tour - they'll have some good east coast competition, so we'll see how they do. Also it'll be interesting to know what that car weighed at (they mentioned K-member) but given how test that test PS1 event was ;-) , they may not have been doing scales there.

There must be more thrust within the EB power band at autox speeds in 3rd for them than top of 2nd/bottom of 3rd with stock gearing. The car also has 18" wheels and guessing 25.x" diameter Yokos to contribute to this performance.

I saw this video on fb so asked a question about what it weighs there.
