The 0 miles to E and the idiot light just to the right are warnings to save the engine when people like you get behind the wheel.

The saying goes.

"Nothings idiot proof, just a better idiot will come along"

Psst. thats you.
Not very nice!

No one cares about that anymore. The purpose of this thread is now seeing who is the best at keeping their car topped up. I'm heading to the crossroads later this evening to make a deal that I think will clinch it for me
Challenge accepted. I just got back from the crossroads.

So with 1/8 a tank of gas I get the zero miles to empty warning. I proceed to drive 32 more miles and fill up with the gauge showing a hair above empty. Car takes 14.7 gallons.
I think a calibration is needed.
I believe there is a TSB for this. Since they can't ever know for sure how many miles are possible (think coasting down Pike's Peak with the engine off), and since the estimate is already outrageously pessimistic, the TSB simply shuts the engine off after the last displayed remaining miles number.

Sure you may have to walk with a half full tank but you'll take comfort in how accurate the warnings are.

Well I used to worry about “miles until empty” until I realized that shark fin thingy on the roof pops open to reveal a port for air-to-ground refueling. I signed up for the airborne tanker package at the dealer when I took delivery of my GT350. When I get to <50 miles of range I can summon a chopper to come and hook its airborne boom to the port concealed under the shark fin. I can take on 10 gallons in like 30 seconds. Keeps me right in the action. Sheesh, I thought all you GT-500 high-rollers used air-to-ground refueling. It’s pretty standard practice for us GT350 owners.

So to skip the 4 pages of fun...I should look at the fuel gauge level, not the miles to e? I just switched to E85 and they are WAY off. I went through a tank in like 4 days lol...

I’ve driven mine a total of 22 miles and my gauge still says full! Is mine broken? is this hashtagging?

Sounds like you filled the secondary fuel reservoir - for reference, it's under the hood and has a fuel cap with this icon ...

My car flicks the light on and says I have only got 50 left when the gauge is still showing ...

WD: IIR, mine is exactly the same. But not being a tracker typer, the accuracy isn't all that important to me, I just keep her above a quarter and figure I'm good to go. :-)

And Mik...

My '18 SD gave me that light on the panel the other day and I'd never seen it before on any vehicle. Took me a couple seconds to actually figure out what it meant, (pretty tiny considering the Mk2 eyeball distance,) but I sure as heck didn't know there was a sensor for wiper fluid. Is this a "truck thing" or do other new vehicles have it as well? Inquiring minds, you know. :-)

My 2017 f250 will only take 26 gallons into the 32 gallon tank when the gauge says 0 miles left. Ford knows there is an issue and has a replacement tank to correct it. Not worth the hassle for me though.

Edit, just realized you were stroking the fires.

Hmmm I say that many owners of GT350 and GT500 have probably learned a thing or two from people that don't own either....keep in mind, they are all Ford Mustangs and not the Ford GT.

The same goes for Mustang GT owners learning things from the Shelby owners. I doubt the fuel gauge readings are very different from Mustang to Mustang.

This is especially true for some of us who are owning this or that car for the very first time. If we all stayed in only one forum, what fun would that be :)

Coming here from the GT350 forums is pretty enlightening.....Not! Same deal over there.
Someone that actually owns a GT500 gets chastised by everyone who doesn’t.
You gents should chill, as we used to say in the ‘70’s ;-)

I have come to the realization that the fuel capacity in the GT500 is about the same as my motorcycle of 150 to 200 miles depending on mode/driving. Come to think of it, maybe my motorcycle gets slightly more! Only good thing is with the tiny tank, it's not $70 to $80 like my wife's TrackHawk.
