I love the rev-matching feature in my 370Z. I'd prefer it in a future manual but it's definitely not a deal breaker. I have been heel-toeing on my own since I learned how to drive.

But it still is nice to let the car handle it from time to time.

For me, rev matching would be a nice option, but no where near a necessity or deal breaker. What I really like is the 'Hill Assist', especially in these hilly roads in Central VA. ;)

For me it's similar to a HUD. It's a cool and useful feature, that I would pay a little extra for if it was an option, but I wouldn't turn down a car just because they were lacking.

If there was a similar car that had those features, they would definitely be taken into account.

In the case of the GT350, no other car interests me as strongly so I'll still be buying one even without rev-matching or a HUD.

You don't need to worry about heel and toe until you're an advanced driver. Really. For 99% of casual track day people, there are a ton of other things to work on that will make you faster than worrying about heel and toe.

Automatic rev matching on a standard transmission just seems like another way to suck the fun out of having a stick. What's the point? It's completely unnecessary and if it's the extra .001-.01 second you want, then just get an auto. And who are we kidding, I'm willing to bet that no-one on this forum is so fast that that extra few tenths id going to make a difference.

If you're new to manual transmissions, just get one and enjoy the experience as it was meant to be.

Have you ever locked the driven wheels of a high powered car on a circuit? I did. Totally threw my line off. Rev matching has its purposes.

I didn't say you dont need to rev match, I said you dont need to heel and toe. You can rev match without heel and toe. Do it before the turn.

But to answer your question, yes I have. Which is why I'd recommend that people new to track days look at miatas first :)

You actually like the hill assist? I turned it off ASAP, I was second guessing where the engagement point of the clutch was with the car holding the brakes for me.

No I've never locked the tires of any manual transmission car. Only on an automatic when I put it in park. I think if the car was moving and the tires locked I would completely lose control of the car, not just mess up my line. I guess I don't even understand what you're saying here.

I'm auto rev match agnostic myself. :D

Didn't mean for my response to sound like trolling. Sorry if I offended any one.

Z4M, coming hot into a braking zone. Threw it in second and the rear just spazzed out on me. Pretty sure my heart rate spiked right there... I learned about heel toeing and was obsessed with practicing it whenever I got a chance afterward.

You don't lose complete control if you counter the car's motions with counter steering input, but it's an ass clencher waiting to happen if you're braking hard and getting in the right gear without matching speeds properly.

I find that a well executed downshift is one of the great joys of driving. I learned to heel toe at 16 and love the connection that comes when nailing it.

That said, I would prefer it if they had an option for auto rev matching for two reasons:

1. It is really useful when wearing the wrong shoes - dress shoes or boots. I had a 370z, and I occasionally turned on the rev matching when I didn't have the right footwear, or didn't feel like taking off my shoes.

2. My wife will need to drive the car sometimes. I would really prefer rev matching just to save the wear on the transmission and driveline. A non-rev-matched shift in a sports car kind of makes me crazy.

You need to buy Piloti's or Adiddas Driving shoes buddy.

And you need to hide the keys from your wife or buy her.... her own car.

my guess is cost: the mustang is a relatively cheap car
Software only. I had rev matching added to my Subaru. Tuner connected his laptop and 30sec later it was done.

I'm hoping there'll be a software patch for the Ford for this. How tuneable is the Ford ECU? Once we'd installed ECUTEK on the Subie you could do anything to it.
