Cool video, but it looks like the GT350 torque curve is way off. He has it putting out over 450 lb-ft at 4700 RPM, and it isn’t showing the dramatic torque dip under 3500 RPM. None of that changes the story much, although I do think the GM motor will be even better down low than the Voodoo...
That is a possible downside, although hanging out with other car enthusiasts for the day, hearing the sounds, smelling the smells...well I would hardly call that a waste of time!
Definitely not an efficient way to get lots of seat time though.

I'd drive the Shelby
But gas doesn't grow on trees
It's from dinosaurs
Yay, it is payday!
Fill 'er up. The engine roars.
Time to hit the road.
First corner, here we come.
What a blast. See ya suckers!
Oh damn, there's traffic.

Well, I can't speak for other American buyers, but in order to surpass my own dick/splacement, the engine's gotta be pretty big!
But seriously, if Ford wanted to get ~530 HP out of a 4.5L engine they would have needed to go even farther with their optimizations. I just don't think that was in...
Love autoX. Did it a lot in my 350Z, but haven't yet in the GT350. It's a great way to learn car control, as you can get a feel for rotation in a safe environment. It'll beat up the tires, but nowhere near what a trackday will. It's pretty easy on the brakes. You also get to practice...
Did your ABS light come on? I was at the track with my buddy who has a Viper ACR. Well, just as his instructor was taking the Viper out to set some benchmark laps, the ABS acted up. Turned out that a tiny piece of metal had been picked up from the track and flung off the tire, bounced around...
Well, time for another update.
Car is having an issue with intermittent engine surge. There is a TSB regarding this issue, and I took the car in to a local dealer a couple months ago and took a senior technician on 20 minute drive, but of course the car drove perfectly while he was riding with...
The Z06 looks to be amazing. Ford already did an amazing thing with the Voodoo engine, even with all the packaging constraints, and other compromises. It is an extremely visceral and emotional engine, that also has great performance. From a numbers perspective, GM has blown the Voodoo out of...
I’m pretty slow, so my car has been holding up well. Biggest issue on track is rear brake wear. Specifically the inside pad. I would keep checking the outside pad, only to find I had worn the inner pad down to the backing plate. replaced all four brake rotors. Fronts are pretty easy but the...
I have over 45,000 miles and many track days on my 2016.
It has been pretty much flawless until the last month when it started intermittently surging (usually after getting on the throttle hard). Looks like there may be a TSB to address the issue, but have an appointment at a dealer on...
My brake rotors click during cornering. I hear it mostly from the fronts. Put on new rotors (due to wear, not clicking), and the new set clicks less than the previous ones. I just pretend that I have playing cards in my spokes.

I did a day there a few years ago in my non-R, stock, and in my 350z a long time ago. Unfortunately I don’t have any good advice regarding setup. If you’re using your car for both street and track, and if you can relatively easily change settings, then going to 3 degrees for the track probably...
When you own an electric car you charge it in your garage or driveway overnight and start each day with a full “tank”. You need a 240V setup for this, so not something you can do for a rental or loaner. However, for an owner this means you practically never need to charge anywhere else for...
Depends on what you want to do. Best performance is achieved by shifting at redline because the revs drop into an area of more power. If you short-shift the revs will fall even more, into a zone of slightly lower power. If you want max performance, and have traction, then redline is “best”...
Love the GT350, and don't plan on letting it go. It's awesome because it has room for my kids, has so much character that it is fun even when going slow, and is amazing on track even when essentially totally stock.
However, I do miss my 350Z, which was a smaller car, and which had limits that...
Finally got around to replacing the rear rotors on the car.
What a PITA! But, as always, you learn as you go and while it took about 3 hours to figure out the first wheel I did the second one in about an hour.
The big issue with replacing the rear rotors, is that the parking brake cable...
Been a long time since my last post. Happy to say that the rat situation was resolved and I was able to get the injectors spliced back in to the original harness. Much less expensive than trying to route an entirely new harness around the engine.
I now keep a small plastic bin under the car...
Nothing too special.
Check the oil often.
When I get in a press the clutch I like to wait for the exhaust valves to cycle before starting the car.
Since I have to keep mine outside, I keep a plastic bin with an ultrasonic emitting lightbulb under the car to keep rats away (had them chew...
