Update:

I just put the factory resonator back on and couldn't be happier. The drone from the H-pipe at 3K or above was just too much for city driving. Now I can actually cruise above 3k and not feel the need to shift. I can also tell the difference between exhaust modes now.

I know exhaust is subjective, but I definitely think the factory set-up sounds great as-is.

PM me if anyone wants a low mileage Steeda H-pipe.

Hi! I’m curious about what everyone is doing about resonator deletes in the Mach 1. I love the sound when rpms are over 4k, but would love some more V8 sounds down low (H-Pipe would be my choice) while keeping the active exhaust.

Steeda’s H-Pipe is a steal right now, so I’m close to pull the trigger soon.
Thanks!
It has been proven that steeda’s Xpipe make more hp and tq than the h pipe and still sounds pretty wicked, that was my 1st mode after wheels/tires šŸ¤”

I went with bullet resonators and shorty bullet mufflers for a true dual exhaust. It sounds deep and I get a ton of compliments on it.

I also love that it tones down a lot of the 4v rasp.

I’ve been through 4 different muffler configurations trying to tune the tone of this car. It wasn’t easy

And expensive, start a muffler shop with the take-offs?
"get a ton of compliments on it" What if they hated it would you change?

i went with factory resonator and "ford performance by borla, sport" mufflers, since my wife drives the car as a daily on my 21 gt,no noise intrusion in the cabin and i could have bumped up to "borla extreme" had i known it would be so quiet, the "touring" may have been quieter than stock in this configuration!

Not sure, but the stock resonator is quite heavy. Id imagine it probably saves 20ish pounds or more.
Ryan, I’m wondering if the resonator weight might have changed over the years. Some guys cite the ~20 pound saving and others swear the savings is only around 4-5 pounds. That knowledge certain would make it an easier call for me. I’m already happy with the stock AE performance and sound.

Well Steeda lists their H-pipe as 6 pounds lighter than factory. Having just picked up both the Steeda pipe and the factory resonator yesterday, I can tell you there isn't much weight difference.

Thanks very much!

That kinda seals it for me. If there’s little to no power gain and I like the factory AE sound (keep it in track 100% of the time and just feather the throttle if I need to) there’s not much incentive for me to change. Now if I could have saved 20 pounds maybe different story.

I unapologetically love loud cars and motorcycles and always have. One of the reasons my hearing is toast today. But in the days before I got my Mustangs I would occasionally have one pass me with my window down that was just way too brutally loud even for me. Literally painful. I couldn’t believe something was too loud for me but it was.

I hear you. Exhaust is subjective. I'm sure some here think me going back the factory resonator is blasphemy. But when my passengers are commenting on how loud the car was inside while driving, I knew the resonator delete was overkill. Having no other benefit, it was an easy choice to take it off.

I'm about to switch to Corsa double x & put Corsa pro resonators in. Currently have c&l h pipe. Can barely hear exhaust inside car.

Always been a fan of deeper sound by Hpipe. Absolutely love the way my car sounds now with the Steeda h pipe. Cold starts are tits and it just sounds wicked through all rpm ranges(especially at redline). Best of all quiet is still quiet.

I just received the Steeda X pipe and will install it soon. It weighs 9 lbs. I will weigh the resonator once it’s removed.

I would like to hear what you think after you get this installed. I went with the Steeda X pipe and like it a lot. I think it made my Mach 1 more Mach 1ish... if that is possible 😁

I'm another plain old GT owner, but removed the resonator and fitted a Mishimoto H-pipe (the only one on the market at the time I did it years ago).

Totally thrilled with the results. It's only slightly 'louder' but noticeably deeper tone. It now sounds more like a classic 1960's pony car. Couldn't be happier with the results.
