I got pinched for speeding years ago, claimed 110 on the initial ticket, then jacked it to 130, causing the lawyer to ask for proof.

After months of pushing it back, Judge dropped it to 80 and required I'd take a Defensive Driving course after they couldn't prove anything other than the Radar was calibrated, cop had nothing official.

Again, it was one of those 1am on an empty highway (turnpike) scenarios, guess I ruined him and his partner's donut date as they dropped the nice guy act after they asked how fast I was going. (Everytime I gave a #, they got angrier until they settled on 110)
Speed Limits though need to increase, too low for modern vehicle.

My personal story, also had a radar, which didn't go off at all (See second part there)

Some of us just opt for good ol Mexico. I would never race in traffic, but sure in the hell do in back roads. Some of us don't have the luxury to go to a track. I was planning on going to Topeka this year, but it's now been closed. There is a thread on here somewhere showing just how many tracks have been shut down in the last few years. It's like all counties have been waging a war against all tracks & been winning the battle. The more tracks close, the more street racing will come up.

I agree. The car’s improved but the drivers are WAY worse and the roads a LOT more crowded.

Cars have screens on top of screens and automatics to keep you distracted.

I remember the driving tests of old, shit was easier than Cartman's Mom, they don't prepare you for real driving.

Yeah I know why it's happening. Buts should not be allowed. Tracks are an endangered business & should be protected. Fuck all the Karen's. They prefer people to street race which is the end result.

Same here, Topeka is 4.5 hrs away & that's now closed & don't know about the Wichita one now. Had one in Great Bend 2 hrs away that's been closed as well. Ordered me a draggy box & just waiting for better weather so I can race the clock. Now just have to look out for cows.

I strongly encourage OP to setup some countermeasure in his Mustangs. It could prevent a ticket from occurring. I've only gotten up to 100, and it's shockingly quick. Glad OP got the ticket dismissed.

Totally blows. Hope there’s a new automotive renaissance in this country and we reclaim things, tired of these nagging Karens and their henpecked husbands ruining it all

We need to be more like Jonathan here

Thanks for the read. Took me back to the days when I would sink into a Super Street mag & just drift off into day dream land.

Modern (western) life is entirely too easy. War, pestilence, and privation are a nifty means of focusing attention on survival and dispensing with the kind of "idle thoughts" that lead to the rapidly escalating ruination.

In addition to "save the manuals" we need a T-shirt that reads "No" - The most important word in the English language and should be applied liberally from age 2 and up.

Had a similar experience at 18. Had to pay a $300 fine but my lawyer got me off otherwise. No tickets since.

I think 2 things are preventing street racers from moving to the tracks.

1. There are not enough drag strips and race tracks and the open ones are slowly closing.

2. You can not get insurance on a drag strip or track besides hpde events. Even if you have full coverage in your car, if you spin on the strip and smack a wall going 100mph (like my friend) your insurance will not cover it. You are out 20k...
The reality is he would not have spun like that on the street. Drag strips have a lot of modified cars running down them in succession leading to a high chance of oil and other fluids on the surface. A highway has a very good chance of not having these things. Spinning on a drag strip (from my limited experience) is a lot different than spinning on the street and as someone who has way more experience on the street it was a lot harder to control (tires would spin and grab then spin and grab instead of just full spinning).

Even if a 3rd party company could just offer some expensive insurance for each visit for those who just want to enjoy the car every once and a while.
