Right, so everyone who buys the carbon and ZLE are idiots? All they had to do is buy new tires?

You really need to stop with things you obviously don't understand.
Lol, you dont even have track experience, what do you drive again at the track?

No I didnt say the tire difference was the only deciding factor. I said the tire difference was the major difference. Add the suspension and down force (basically dialed in) and then weight of the wheels made the time difference even larger.

Please stop trying to post like you know it all, you dont even drive a fast car, know your lane son.

changing camber and cold temp pressures for the C8 test done on the same outing was worth 1.8 seconds. So a wheel and tire change (not to mention aero) should be worth a bit more.
Yes, ive been preaching a tire and lighter wheels will help tremendously. I never said it will get the job done. The price of the CFTP leaves a lot of mods you can do to the base. I'm talking from a mustang owners perspective, modding the car.
Yep, CFTP guy can mod their cars too, I would, I'd save those bad boy carbon wheels!

Again, you have no idea who I am or what my experience level is. You need to stop, you are making yourself look silly.

Tires alone don't make the car. And tires are not a majority of the difference, they are a single part of the equation. Throw tires on a ZL1 and it's worth maybe a second or two, not 5. Throw tires on the base GT500 and you have a second or two, not 5.

I like to disassemble things.
Tires are likely the single biggest contributor all other things being equal.

Just a data point, but I was really surprised to hear Dean Martin and one of his drivers (Kyle Marcelli) tell me that the change to the Michelins over the previously mandated Conti's in the IMSA series they ran in had shaved off near 3 seconds a lap at Road Atlanta. This was slick vs slick in the exact same tire size.

You're cuckhouse, I dont need to know or care about your experience. I'm not delusional, I just choose not to listen to your BS.

Never said tires alone make the car. I did say they're majority of what makes the difference, this is especially true if you already have the rest of the formula (driver experience + skill, brakes, downforce, suspension).
Better tires alone will make the car quicker on track a good 2+ seconds. I improved my times at laguna by 4 seconds when I switched from pzero grip to ps4s. Thats just from my first hand experience. Superb tires makes a huge difference.

Randy drove a Viper TA on corsa tires and clocked something like 1:33 at laguna seca, switched to slicks and ran something like 1:30s same day.

What proof do you have that tires ARENT the major difference???

Thats true, we have a bet at VIR. LOL

No big deal from me, I may end up with one of these GT500s, but posting in the shadows like some of the members here.

Thank you! Im tired of the magazine reading waxers telling me what I need to know. Cuck house is a major one, specially since he quotes website journalism that 0-60 is irrelevant. I live that shit every f'n day.

Majority of the difference in both sets of cars are the tires. Add down force and the suspension and the weight of the wheels and then you get the massive difference.
spring rates, damper settings, adjustable camber, aero, all focused on the CFTP to improve times, even more so than the GT350 vs R. It’s a combo

Exactly. Swapping tires alone won’t enable the GT500 to even come close to the carbon pack.

Something along the lines of the GT500 (whether CFTP or base) being 2 seconds within the ZR1/Ford GT/ACR time. Basically low 2:40s, but I just checked and one of the lap times for the ford gt is 2:43, I might be outta here!

Billy Johnson did run 2:38 in the FGT.

@ VIR for sure, thats one of the tracks the GT500 will shine, long straight. With Randy driving, I wouldnt doubt him getting a super fast lap time, I just dont think it will be 2 seconds within Billy Johnsons Ford GT 2:38 time.

They are the 1 item that would get it closest to it. 2nd would be wheels then lastly the wing imo.
After hearing about the tamer base model, I’m not so sure. I bet camber, suspension, wheels, and aero together make up as much if not more. There are > five seconds between the 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS at VIR on the same tires IIRC.
