I hate to say it, because he’s an amazing driver, but hes not above sandbagging. He’s got his favorites and GM rates higher than Ford in his book. He’s even taken to talking up canaries weak points such as visibility during his runs. There’s better be some screeching noises, a look of concern or two, and the car in the ragged edge. He looked like he was about to die wringing every last bit out of the zl1. Like he was fighting tooth and nail, nearly going off the road in order to get the fastest time possible. Better put the same effort into this car.

if he wants to, he will get some seriously impressive performance from his track test.

Randy is pro Garbage Motors .I think he sometimes drove the mustang slower,so the Crapmaro would win.

Randy trashed the C7 Z06 the first time he drove it. So much that GM sent him another to review because the first one was not setup properly.

I just don’t buy that he hates Ford, go back and watch the Gt350 vs Z28 review, he loved the Ford.

there are times when you can’t cover for something. It would ruin his career to rate something so highly and then people don’t listen to him anymore because it’s trash.

it’s different when things are close. One car can get the edge. But then the favoritismometer knocks it enough the other way to give an undeserved win.

unfortunately, this is the human condition. And those with a bigger platform are more influential.

And it’s his daily.

not surprising though. He’s a GM fan thoroughly. When he talks zl1: “it’s the ultimate pony car.” When he talks gt500, it’s just “the ultimate Mustang.”

dude even drive both the manual zl1 and the auto to get the best time. Missed the time with the auto when it was accountable with data recording equipment. Then, when the reporters were gone for lunch, his buddy engineer at GM had him do another drive using only the zl1 built in data and he slightly beat the manual time. And that time gets published. Seriously.

thsts nearly as bad as Al O quoting the zl1 1le doing the ‘ring in 7:16... with the Camaro engineer driving and no footage, no true data recording equipment, etc. because they didn’t have enough time to set up. riiiight...

even as he mentions the GT500 specs, he has to indoctrinate you that it’s just a “normal” car just happens to have big brakes.

he raves about the 350 when it’s not being compared to a PEER GM car. He’s fine when the nearest competitor is an older model. But if that z28 were the same gen...

he’s definitely a great driver. And he definitely has favorites - that wear the bow tie.

personally, I’d love to see a head to head with Randy driving the GM car and Billy Johnson driving through Ford.

about the only way to get a real go.

and a Billy should get out in front more. He should be the go-to guy. Randy is getting a little older now.

at least he drives so fast he doesn't have to worry about "dangerous" lane changes.
I test drove a the I4+1LE and was a bundle of fun. I just preferred the grunt of the V8 and the SS incarnation of the 1LE is the full experience. the 1LE for the I4 is a subset of the enhancements - eg. only gives you the stock SS suspension and brakes.

I hate to pick on a guy and I don’t have a reason to, but when you look at the GT350 video vs z/28, you can see him covering for flaws on the Chevy, then you could see him sandbag on a turn or two on the timed lap. He seems to be going easier on the ford while almost plowing into the turn in the Chevy. Even someone in the YouTube comments noted it.

Easy fix. Let's make it Probst vs. Billy Johnson. Do the gamut of Ford vs. GM. Start with turbo'd 4's in their best config and work your way up. Pick a track that exposes all. Elkhart Lake?
