Started to install the passenger today & just can't seem to get it past this bolt. I had it on there, but when I did I could not get to the top farthest bolt or get the mount back on. Honestly about to just put it all back together & call it quits. I did the ones on my 14' in a matter of hours for both sides. Don't know why this is kicking my ass this much this time around

Don’t remove that….AC Freon will go everywhere

Ok the trick is mount 3 bolts max, then place the Header over them. I have a thread explaining it. Take a break.

I’m at a Soccer game, ok now I see it. You can’t have the farthest forward bolt attached to the head its done with the 2 top middle and one bottom (middle front)

I had it on all the way minus the top farthest one. Got frustrated trying to get that last bolt on so I took it off thinking that maybe I need to get the top bolts on 1st then slide it on but does not seem possible due to that a/c bolt sticking up. I think I have the engine up as far as it can go. Yeah I stepped away for a moment, was already getting pissed.

Kooks really need instructions because it’s not bad once you have the correct combo of studs attached.

Hum, your last comment, sparked something else. Absolutely do not tighten everything until all studs are started. Because you need wiggle room to work

Crap, I’m not home to look at my notes but I’m positive it was only 3 studs (maybe) the front one was one of the three on to get started.

To tighten (once you get to that part) you may try from up top

Yeah their instructions are very vague. Enjoy your soccer game.

I do seriously applaud all you guys who tackle this at home, even more so the one who do it on your back with Jack stands.
now having said that, this is another example why I’m not so brave. A 12 hour minimum job at what I feel my time is worth means anything less than $1000 to have someone else do them right the first time is a bargain.
good luck getting yours installed.

Found it!

Well, if I had to do it again, it would take 1/3 the time.

Two tips:
1. Left side (Driver) install all top bolts approx 1/2 way, then Header, then bottom bolts. But the bottom closest to back of car doesn't fit unless all bolts are loose. (or grind 1/4 in off top of bolt).

2. Right side (passenger) install top middle 2 bolts first 1/2 way, then Header. Then rest of bolts.

Need super long 11mm wrench plus all the tools suggested in this post.

Passenger side
After hand tightening all studs, I believe the top front two were tightened through Wheel well with 2' extension on socket wrench. Take a look through holes in shock tower sheet metal, if you can see the Bolt you can get to it.

Drivers side top Bolts try from up top of Engine bay, if you can't get to them below.

Hope it helps.

Thank you, I don't think I have most of the flex sockets. I didn't take off the bottom plastic pans so I'll do that next. At one point I already had the passenger header on minus the farthest bolt. That's where I lost patience. Lowered the engine, raised it as high as could go. Still could not get that top farthest bolt in while header in. So I took it back off & tried with all top bolts on. This is where I stand now. I have an engine cradle, but does not seem to work that good. Probably will return it after this job. Will try it all again tomorrow. Thanks for your input & help.

Wish I would have removed the wheels before raising it on jack stands lol.

Yeah I have the starter off & mount bracket off as well. Will be installing the mount back on, lowering the car, removing front wheels, then raising it back up & contiue. I will make note of all the instructions needed & send them to kooks when I'm done (if) since their instructions aren't the greatest. I still don't see how you guys were able to torque them after it's all put back together & 1 heat cycle has been done.
