car is under Gold certified warranty. You have original contract with that on it.
Unless light s are not covered I don t see a problem.
Your gonna have to call their bluff.
so they didn t catch it cause they don t check anything BUT it s still covered with the warranty.
100% Agree Cerbomark.

Furthermore, that is BS they are spewing about not helping to fix the issue due to "they sold it to me at such a low price that there is no room for the cost of a repair." If there wasn't any margin to begin with, they probably wouldn't have sold it in the first place.

This ^ translates to: "We took your money for the sale of the vehicle, now buzz off."

Keep on them OP. When in doubt, you could always find a headlight from a crashed 2018-2023 car but I hope they fix this for you.

Now they're dragging their feet and coming up with excuses regarding the buy back.

I'm tired of this s**t. Opened a case with Ford Corporate.
Sounds like they've decided to dump the car on you and make it your problem :/

Gotta love this dealer's integrity. Pay too much on trade, do zero actual inspection, shine it up and throw it out for someone to buy, then deny the preexisting issues.

Any resolution?
Nope. 7 calls in the last 3 days. The general manager hasn't returned a single one. First it was they'd pick the car up on Thursday and then it got moved to Friday morning. I called on Friday at lunch time. The sales staff had no idea what I was talking about and he was conveniently out sick after my 2nd call.

2 calls today and nothing.

I'm honestly not sure what to do at this point. This is far and away the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

I have a case open with Ford Corporate.

I'm considering talking to an attorney but I don't know if what I have is good enough and whether a bunch of text messages is enough "evidence". I want to avoid a situation where the attorney ends up costing me more than a new set of lights.

It's too late to drive it down there today. No banks will be open and they won't be able to issue me a cashier's check and I'm fairly sure that if I show up, they're going to retract their offer to buy it back.

you got your hands full now.
Is the car Gold certified?
are the lights aftermarket? Voids the Gold on that one if so.
Ford complaint, BBB complaint (super easy), bad dealer review s on site that notifies them or sites they advertise on and anywhere else online.
What I see in your favor, they sold you a certified car that wasn't .
IMO Ford corporate is THE WORST company I have ever dealt with.
You can start all this with no lawyer and maybe they ll fold.
I d also, if possible be in that showroom floor and if you have to have a big sign on your car claiming this dealer is shady!!
I ve had one dealer not disclose damage on a car and they had to replace it by doing some of the above suggested.
I ve had another dealer claim CPO and I pulled out a filthy cabin filter while the salmen went in for the keys (LOL). I left it on seat and told salmen if I check one more thing I m gonna walk. I blasted them on media after I did take the car during covid time period and they made me offer for free services which I told them I have no confidence in them and then they sent me a lot of parts, brakes etc etc to get me to take down a review which I took the parts and told them to F off.
One of my first posts on this site was when searching for a Mustang (CPO) and all the BS and wasted time on a car. Complained to Ford who said that they don t control the dealers.
It s too bad cause this will waste time and your enjoyment of the purchase.
Carpet bomb them everywhere and every way!!
Also put up their name on sites like this to help others!!
You are in no way wrong other than not checking this car before accepting it.

PS/. I ve bought so many cars I could go on forever telling stories. Buyer beware is wisdom.

JUST a thought no banks open then get them to do a bank transfer on the spot ??? that way the money is in your bank account when you drop car back
that way if you are there you will know whether they will honour their word by checking the money went thru

maybe the head man/woman has not been informed of whats going on your business is only as good as how the workers perform ??

@cerbomark -- The car is indeed Gold Certified. The lights are not aftermarket but they have been modified to make the DRL tri bars into a turn signals. Because of that, Ford will not warranty them. They were not resealed properly so one the driver side, I have severe condensation and 1 dead tri bar LED. The passenger side doesn't have a condensation problem but 2 of the 3 tri bar LEDs are dead.

I saw the condensation issue right away prior to buying. They committed to fixing that as part of the sale. I didn't know about the turn signal modifications until after I took delivery. So, you could say that the passenger side is on me but they did promise to fix the driver side light. However, it is Gold certified and the lights are part of that. Do the high and low beams work? Yes. Do the turn signals work? Yes. Do the DRLs work? Partially. 3 of the 6 tri bar LEDs are burned out. Does the above constitute a "pass" of the headlight check? They're saying that it does.

@OLD8BA -- the problem is the only thing I have is a text that hints at them buying back. All of the actual discussion of buying back and them sending me a contract to cancel the sale all took place on the phone.

This is all I have that is "written" regarding the buy back.

You have to stop the phone tag. Go to the dealership and get a resolution. If you are in their face they know you are serious.

If they offer terms that you are ok with keeping the car, get it in writing.

i really feel for you Sonny i know it could be a waste of time but as thers have said see if you can drive it back to face them
im in Australia and dont know the ins and outs of your laws but here we need a RWC road worthy certificate to enable the car to be put into buyers name.
if the car passed a RWC inspection here and something like that turned up the company that did the rwc would be in big trouble and could lose their RWC licence
i wish you all the best with it
regards Dave

They are trying to run you out of time.
The Gold CPO gives you the right to return the car within 14days/1000 miles.
You need to tell them, in no uncertain terms, that you want to return the car. And then do so.
All this email bullshit is meant to distract you until your return window closes.
You need to bite the bullet on this and get the car to them within those parameters whatever it takes. Even if it means having a wrecker take the car and you miss time at work.
Otherwise you will be well and truly screwed.

This. I would be there waiting for them to open with all my paperwork in hand. Dump that pig in a poke asap. Have you outed the dealer yet? If not, do it so others can avoid these assholes.
And to say Ford corporate has no say in what dealerships do is a crock of shit. Of course they do.

Aside from the headlight nonsense, you're in CA - if that car has mods to emissions components, you're already going to do battle when you need to get it inspected for State emissions passing...

So as others say - show up at the Dealer already and get this car off your hands.

There's so many Bullitts on any classified listing site it's silly... open the search up to Nationwide when you are searching, and you'll see them all.

I certainly would not deal with what you have, there's too many unknowns already such as the fact the Dealer pushed it off as a Certified vehicle when clearly modified exhaust Isn't stock... nor is malfunctioning headlights that were modded.

Don't get emotionally attached.

I recently bought a 2017 GT350 that was Blue Certified (4,000/90 day warranty) from a local Ford dealer. I asked if the car was completely stock before I bought it. I was told the car is as it was delivered and they couldn’t certify it if it wasn’t.

You've gotten this advice several times now. You HAVE to go in person. Show up at the dealership, show your face, demand to see the general manager and do not leave until it is resolved. If that does not work out, then your only bet is to lawyer up. Im sorry you're having to deal with this but this is the reality of the situation now! I wish you luck!
