I agree, do not have a problem with the repeat, do not think this is a topic that comes up every day or anything. I have a GT and regularly go back and forth depending on the day, price, clothes that I am wearing, position of Mercury relative to Venus, etc. Have never noticed a difference, just mainly put in higher octane to feel like I am doing something positive every now and then. I do hear that it is a bigger difference on the Eco, but not sure if there is a difference between different grades of premium or if it just goes down on 87 only.
is it not true that with the eco, you lose a substantial amount of HP if you use regular gas? I have an eco, but I have always used premium gas. Am I wasting my money in doing so?

When I frequented the Focus ST forum, some owners would run 87 through the winter for less power since it wasn't needed. In my Dub days, it seemed all GTI owners would run 87 through the winter.

Oh!...and I try to use octane free gas...those octanes ruin your turboencabulator.
For those that don't know...

Two of the guys that bought Ecoboosts on my recommendation have asked me if they can use regular unleaded safely in their Mustangs. Knowing that these guys will never mod their 2.3s, I tell them "yes". But then I ask them why oh why did they buy the Ecoboost Mustang to put gasoline that lowers the HP to what is lower than the V-6? They could have bought the regular unleaded running V-6 for less. I argue with them that their Ecoboost Mustangs will run so much better using premium unleaded. They insist that they want to buy the cheaper gasoline. I retort that those Mustangs should not be gelded with regular unleaded. I own two Ford vehicles with Ecoboost engines and know how much better they run on premium. I've owned many V-8 powered Mustangs in the past, two being Coyote powered, so it was a real happy revelation to find out how good the Cyclone Mustang is. I'm eagerly waiting for a Mach I to return to the Coyote fold.

I don't think your wasting your money. I will never put a tank of regular in mine again.

There are many articles/ford quotes that state the ecoboost loses at least 11% of it's HP when running 87. And yes lazy repeat posts are annoying to me. If you don't like it skip over my comment

87 and Premium are a waste of time....E30 is the way!

:D
You can get a 54 gallon drum of MS109 race gas for $750. Not too bad IMO. Just get like 5 drums and mix a few gallons with your 93 every fill up you'll be good for a couple years

I avoid running regular unless it is an absolute fucking emergency..... And having done the math before, the better fuel economy achieved with premium more than pays for the difference in cost. Because really what is it, an extra $0.20/gallon? In a 15 gallon fill that's $3, or another gallon of crap regular gas. For me it is worth it.

Premium is 40 cents/gal more here in Atlanta. An alternative for people where premium costs a lot more is to use mid-grade. You get some performance gain for a minimal cost. But, everyone is different in what they use their car for. If it is a DD for commuting, it's hard to justify the higher cost of premium to sit in traffic. If its your toy and you want to tune, 93 is essential.

I'll sacrifice the cost of a bag of chips per week for the sake of my car running better

Use whatever, the engine can take 87 just fine and does not cause any issues. Since my mustang is a DD, I'll put regular in it from time to time. As others have mentioned, I don't miss that 11% hp when sitting in traffic M-F. Basically, when I fill up Monday morning, 87; when I fill up later in the week, 93.
