Fun fact that I noticed only now, when doing first wash. If you cover the front vinyl (glossy part) with PPF, the letters Mach 1 almost disappear. The outlines are somewhat visible but mostly it's hidden.

It has to do with how the light is reflected, as it was more visible when sun shined on it before and not much visible when it was cloudy, so when it's covered with PPF, it changes how it reflects or rather it doesn't anymore somehow.

Now I see that @Mach1NA has it similar in the 3rd pic here.

Oh well, it was badly visible from most angles before anyway, I'll put it under cost of protection...
Here is the Fighter Jet Gray one. @Atlas1 does your looks like this still or like the one above? I think I'd still rather have the PPF covering it if were me.

my car looks like the one you posted. the PPF is cut around the sticker and the only thing on the sticker is ceramic. in a perfect world i would have covered it with PPF but i was afraid of it lifting if/when the film needs to be redone. i never considered PPF hiding the mach 1 logo so that is interesting to see the above cars.

The more I look at this, the more I'm considering leaving the decal itself because I love how the Mach 1 pops on the hood. I had no idea that the PPF made it so dull.

@Zelek Yeah, if I could do it again, I would leave the vinyl alone and only put ceramics on it. Ended up doing that for the matte part and the glossy part isn't that big. Hopefully it would not be damaged by rock chips...

@Mach1NA I have Magnus Pro PPF, it's 210 μm thick, it has nanoceramic layer and is super hydrophobic (and I can confirm this 100% after today's wash), so it's supposedly better than Xpel Ultimate Plus. Yours logo is more visible and same in all letters. Mine is even less visible and has only the left part bit more visible than the right letters.

@Atlas1 Yours is visible as if it was silver painted. I don't get it. Maybe that's another difference between FJG decal and the others, you have different the matte part, maybe this one too.

In this promo pic it looks great but that's not really how it looked in reality, only in certain angles and under certain light.

I contacted my detailer, what he thinks about it. It's funny it took me 3 weeks to even notice it, LOL. I don't really want to re-do the whole hood. If he suggested to somehow cut it around the vinyl and take it off from the glossy part, I guess I would do it now.

Is it because the PPF is xpel stealth and not regular xpel?

I have yet to see part numbers for the hood graphic. I would have bet money they were all the same but there has been more than one member on here mention that the FJG cars have a different decal, slightly in color and surface finish. I’m going to keep looking for this because I want to get a spare or 2 and need to get the correct one.

They are not the same. I compared them up close at dealer on FJG and my Velocity Blue. VB has rough matte part, FJG does not. FJG was more glossy since it wasn't as rough. My detailer said he never encountered such a vinyl, it was almost like a paint sprayed on top of it. Complications, complications... If he says he can cut around it now and peel it off the glossy part, I'll go for it. He's 300 km away and I just don't want to pay the whole hood done again, meh. Driving on highway is no fun after I discovered the fun of WOT.

For the hood stripe with red it is: MR3Z-9920000-AB, with a cost of $531.49....Holy S@#T

Nope, I have glossy PPF on the glossy part of the vinyl and left the matte part alone as air bubbles were visible under it, the detailer tried, it's too rough and the glue and air bubbles didn't work on it well so he took it off.

Can't drift 300 km, too difficult 😁

you just need more practice thats all 😉
So true. I was testing it in some nice spot, but it's so difficult with winter tyres. I rest my case for now. Perhaps I'll get 3rd set of wheels and some finished tyres to try on, haha.

The advice is to have the logo created as a sticker and put on the PPF 😁 I guess that's the best way about it. Even found the logo in high quality so it should be pretty easy. Project for winter, stay tuned 😁
