Cool, No issues with lines or anything around the edges of the decal?
Zero issues, it was installed in July of 23 and has 14k miles, still looks great. A lot depends on your installer and the quality of the film as well.

What makes the FJG decal different than the others, just curious?

The FJG decal is supposedly smooth where the others have a more course texture that the PPF will not adhere to very well.

It has been discussed on this forum extensively and I am by no means the first one to cover it.

Also, my detailer knew he could install PPF over mine but not the others even though it was the first Mach 1 he had come in.

My entire car is PPF'd since before I drove it away from the dealership. However for the hood decals, they laid the PPF around them so that I could remove the decals if needed without needing to remove the PPF. I also have my roof wrapped black so that's it's on PPF. The only portion that isn't PPF is the upper portion of my rear quarters and I believe my trunk. But even the mirrors, entire doors, whole hood, a pillars, all of front bumper, and even rear bumper is PPF.

I had the entire front done and they went over the decals. I was also unfortunately not aware that if you have to remove it the decal will go with it. I feel like I should have kinda known that but oh well. Will resurect a thread in 6 years when it happens.

I guess it depends on the PPF (and also the decals!), but the common reasoning I had at the time I was deciding to have it fully covered (while being fully unaware that I am lucky because of having FJG decals) was along this line:
  • If I have to remove the PPF because it got damaged to the point it needs to be replaced, I would most likely destroy the decal as well (if it was not covered).
  • If I have to remove the PPF because it deteriorates (visually) to the point it did not look good, chances are that the decal would be in probably same or worse condition (if not covered).
  • Plus my detailer told me that he saw it 50:50 chance that removing the PPF will take the decal with it (I have Suntek PPF on mine).
So the conclusion was, I could not lose anything if I got it covered, but if I would be lucky, I might even save the decal if I ever need to remove the PPF.

Ah, this thread again. I had my entire hood, (twice now since the GT500 hood) with STEK PPF and matte PPF separately cut for the decal to make it keep the OEM appearance. Perfectly done. Installer makes all the difference in the world. Regular PPF will give it a glossy look over the center stripe.
