If you suspect your car still has a tune, run whatever fuel you want as long as it's 91+. If you put the cheap stuff in, just don't go wailing on the throttle again and again and again. That said, unless the tune was written by a blithering idiot, the ECU has all the tools at it's disposal to mitigate the negative effects of running 87 in sensible driving and modest aggression.
Thank you for this! This is one of the things I needed to know. I always run the highest grade fuel available. But it's not always 93. Good to know the car can handle it as long as I don't do anything dumb lol!

You know on my 18 PP1, I had a brain fart and thought, surely it can run flex fuel! I was looking at the flex fuel emblem on the truck in front of me. Yep, full tank of e85. Check engine light, and pinging at the slightest hint of aggressive throttle.

I think that's the most grandma way possible I've ever drove in my life until I burned that tank out. I couldn't wait! 🤣 🤣 🤣

But what's weird is that the base M1 has softer springs in the rear than a PP1 car. That's very weird to me.
not really. I'm sure part of the reason is a sop to drag launches. But high rear rates (900+) have a tendency to rotate the back a bit - I don't want to call it oversteer... Softer rates with more bar is another way to skin the same cat.

I'd be surprised if it didn't. It's rated for more power and I'm pretty sure that's because of the intake manifold and software.
And I think most of us agree the gear spacing is a LOT better with the Tremec transmission. The Getrag has a big, dumb gap between 3rd and 4th. The Tremec fixes that, and every gear is shorter except 6th.
I'm assuming I'll need a new transmission one day, and I want the Tremec.
For 6 years I've had the M82-D4 and the Tremec is so different. In some ways I like the gearing better and some ways I don't. But the clutch! Oh man, the clutch...sooooo much better.

EDIT: 4th gear in your car should pull like if I had my car in 4th, with a 4.5 rear end.
Other than 1st, the gaps are really across all gears, not necessarily 3rd and 4th. To me, the D4 gearing is better suited for the street, not so much for the track. Although, it is nice being able to trap the 1320 in 3rd with the D4 and save that shift.

Well that explains why 5th pulls so much better. I thought the Tremec was also a double overdrive but I see now that 5th is 1:1

Looking at the chart, I swear 1st and 2nd are much shorter in the new car but the chart shows 1st being identical and 2nd being very close...

Yes, 5th in the D4 is a great highway gear unless youā€˜re just on a long haul and need the overdrive for cruising. I rarely use 6th.

Magneride to magneride?
Not clear. The last lingering piece of the puzzle.
Good point.

(From memory) I think PP1 + MR has softer rear springs than a PP1 :like:

Son of a bi......
Based on the rear (what was being discussed) :

Non PP1 GT = 668
PP1 GT = 728
PP1 GT + MR = 650 ? (But some have said the same as non MR at 728 ?)
PP2 = 822
M1 = 657
MH HP = 742
16-18 350 = 914
19+ 350 = 857
350R = 914

For comparison, FP MR (classed as an upgrade for all MR models - but not all need the electronic update) = 735 non linear.

I keep hearing about the rear end of the mustang heating up. I’ve never experienced this in mine and I got a normal gr m6. I don’t know if it matters but I had 4.09 gears installed. But it what would the symptoms be if it does heat up?

it would be hot. :)

PP1/2 cars have temp sensors so we know how hot the gear oil is. All others you're blissfully unawares.

Do you track it? You'll only overheat the rear end on a track.

Dunno if I wasn't fully awake or if the weather was different this morning or what. But I hammered it once on the way home and damn it feels wayyyy quicker than the PP2. I'm gonna scare the wife in it and see what her opinion is lol
Lower DA adds power (cooler temps). The Mach 1 hasn’t proven to be quicker than an M6 GT PP1 or PP2, you’re probably just feeling the lower gearing.

This one will have to work until I get a better outside pic. Couldn't crop the one I have as well as I wanted to!

Obligatory pic of car in question...
