- Ford Performance X-Pipe with Side Dumps
- Ford Performance Borla Sport axel backs

The exhaust system was installed by the previous owner of the car and once I looked into it he had blocked off the side pipes. I took the blocking plates off and love the sound however with and without the plates installed the car can be around 80db under 80mph with bad drone and it is unbearable. Without plates is in general 2-3db louder at highway speeds. I am wondering what my options are to get rid of the drone. I would love to keep the x pipe open as I love the tone of the sound. The car is my daily driver so I need to do something. Options I have looked at:

- Vibrant Performance Ultra Quiet Resonator (not sure where to install on the exhaust)
- Install a J pipe (not sure where to get this done at)
- Full corsa extreme setup (easiest to do but most expensive and I dont like the tone as much , and its going to take a bit to save up for)

Do you have long tube headers or cat delete?

Maybe weld in the vibrants right after the x section on the x pipe

Drone is primarily caused by the muffler type. Change axleback is the easiest way here. You can throw a pair of Vibrants on, will reduce the volume and rasp some but likely won't do much for the drone. A full drone free setup like Corsa or AWE are also options.

This. When I went h-pipe/feline delete, drone went through the roof with the old axle backs. Changed the A-backs to SLP Loudmouth II and it immediately gave me that proper muscle car sound, deep rumble at idle, no rasp, with ZERO drone.

I went ahead and picked up a j pipe kit. I’m not opposed to swapping out axel backs but online people say the Ford Performance Borla Sport exhaust that I have is drone free and I do not want to get into an endless money pit of axel back swaps

I have no doubt they would have removed the drone but I never installed them. I ended up deciding to quiet the car down some with a more tame exhaust. I decided to get rid of the side dumps and ended up going corsa extreme quad exhaust in the end. It quieted the car down a bit for regular driving but she is just as loud when I step on it. Shoutout as well to Stephen @ Lethal Performance for the awesome deal he hooked me up with for the exhaust!
