Apparently base radio 2020 users can also install this update, the car is still running sync 3.4 in the background, just with a reduced feature list. I did the update through USB, I went from 3.4 19200 to the newest, and then did a master reset for good measure. Hopefully this stops the random bluetooth disconnects I used to get.

As far as changes for base users, the screen seems a little more crisp as far as fonts and colors go. I retained the chrome pony on startup. And a lot of the voice over lines have been changed and sound better.

I've noticed the Android Auto integration doesn't do the full center view turn screen w/ progress bar like it does with the built in navigation. The distance to the next turn is on the left side of the dash, next to the gear indicator. Which is consistent with the built in navigation.

Any indication if this is a limitation on Google's side or Ford's side?

I've noticed a couple of times that when using WAZE via Android Auto the distance to turns on the digital dash don't match the Android screen.

Has anyone elses sync started defaulting to am every time you go to the audio tab? Mine didnt until I updated. if I left it on usb it stayed there not every time I start the car the audio defaults to AM
Interesting. This was one of the issues reported on 3.4 build 20021. Supposedly "fixed" by this build, 20136.

I haven't seen that happen yet but it may be why they don't have the more precise turn screen active.

I have the Lincoln MY20 active and as reported by another user, the mobile apps option seems to be disabled. However, I had Pandora and several other apps suddenly show up one time while just on BT. Then when I got back in the car the next time they were all gone again.

Anyway, Mobile Apps has never worked for me reliably enough to be a reliable option. It's always had a mind of it's own.

I have noticed in my cluster on Android Auto and Google Maps (I don't use Waze), it shows the turns and distance to them (accurately from what I can remember), but it doesn't show total distance left like it does on stock nav, plus, it actually shows the units in km (i.e. it shows "-- km") for the "left of the trip." How weird is that?

Every version of Sync I have ever used has occasionally defaulted to AM radio after an ignition cycle ! (10 + cars)

It has always been random for me but never always. It defaults to AM about as often as the Mobile Apps work.

Tried the update, my system told me it updated and would be applied on next start up, yet it's still at 3.3. I know I read in this thread early on about it continuing to to update without displaying a complete message, has anyone else had a false completion?

Edit: The update was not a false positive, I let the vehicle sit for about 15 minutes and it launched with 3.4.

Does anyone know if the official 3.4 update via Ford's website will be available for 2016-2018 model years?

It was a PITA to time when to release the damn USB with the infinite loop error on that file. I had to let it cycle THREE times, until finally had to be glued to the stupid car (at 100F), to pull the USB on time, since you only have about 3 seconds, before it starts looping again. Maybe if it's pulled at any time AFTER the first time, it'd be okay, which I assume is what happened to you.

So I didn't get the loop, but 3.4 didn't launch on my next start-up about 20 seconds after the install was done. I thought it didn't take but after stepping inside for a bit then coming back out to try the install again it launched into 3.4.

Please everybody check out the first post in this thread which explains clearly how to check / avoid this reboot loop.
