When on the highway, and just cruising, I'll go into 6th gear at about 65-70mph. Usually in 6th at that speed, the rpm is about 2,000 rpm. If I step on the gas, the car will accelerate, but will accelerate slowly. If I want to pass someone, I'll drop into 5th.
Yes, 6th is an overdrive, and ok for steady cruising. But for any quick acceleration, the rpm's have to be at least 3,500 rpm in my experience.
The torque power band doesnt start to kick in till about 3,500 rpm.

Sounds normal. 6th gear is like running through the shallow end of the pool while being chased in a dream. Only meant for maintaining current cruise speed on the highway.
It's normal to have 0 acceleration?

Remember he said it has ZERO acceleration, that it didn't do this when he got it and a tech agreed something is wrong.

How does any of that sound 'normal'?

I think you may be confusing two users. This whole thread was by someone discussing an issue on his car in 2019. I wasn't referring to him. On post #44 the thread was bumped today by a new member saying that it's his first time driving a GT350 and was surprised by the lack of power in 6th gear. I was addressing him, not the OP's issue in this thread from 2019.

Why didn't anyone confirm this for the guy who started this thread? Lol. He got rid of the car due to this and dealer was clueless too....

Anyway is there a potential solution like changing different gears from oem 3.73 gears to say 2.73 etc. ?

That would be the opposite, higher numerical value is the lower gearing

he also said never to race and shift to 6th as you can damage the engine.....he said always use 5th and take it to max rpm.....
Considering 5th takes you to 175mph, that would be one hell of a race or one hell of a short shift for someone to need to grab another gear.

Mine accelerates in 6th but I haven't even tried under 70-80mph. Id imagine the Whipple helps tho.

You’re shifting into 6th too early and probably under 2k lugging the motor. Try shifting into sixth around 3500 rpms. I still have decent enough throttle response to pass if need to. 6th is an overdrive gear. 70+mph.
I think 3500 in sixth is far north of 70mph, but yes, 6th is an O/D.

6th is 0.63:1 ................... there will be NO "Giddy-Up" with that ratio!

This was most-probably done to please the CAFE standards.
