I recently bought a used 2018 GT350 with 2500 miles on it. 4 days after buying it I switched into 6th gear at around 60-65 mph and had no throttle response. I mash the petal and nothing. I know 6th is a cruising gear but I can’t accelerate at all. 5th gear seems to lack power and the car sounds bogged down. Took it right to a Ford Dealership and they have had it for 3 days with no answers. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks for any help.

Could be bad throttle body or mass air sensor.

Not sure about throttle body but mass airflow sensor always triggers a "check engine" light... at least mine did.

You’re shifting into 6th too early and probably under 2k lugging the motor. Try shifting into sixth around 3500 rpms. I still have decent enough throttle response to pass if need to. 6th is an overdrive gear. 70+mph.

I just recently wrapped up a long road trip (4500+) over 10 days, lots of hills and curves and yes 6th is an over drive only gear for the highway. I found my wife and I both were downshifting a lot into 5th to climb or pass.

Please, please don't lug the engine! As previously said, 6th gear is not for acceleration. I agree not to shift there until higher speed - 65 at a minimum but 70+ is better.

When I first bought the vehicle, 6th gear was different. I could accelerate with no problem. Now I hit the pedal and the rpms don’t change even if I put it to the floor. It’s very strange. No codes

Yes what you are experiencing is very strange. You don't get much acceleration in 6th but you should get some....I do. Soooooo it needs fixing.

Dealership keeps giving me the run around that they can’t drive it fast blah blah blah. The manager has told me 5th and 6th lack power though. Pretty sure I’m going in today to drive car like it’s supposed to be driven and show them something isn’t right. I was just hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction.

I could speculate, but whatever is going on - you will need the dealer to fix it.

Do you have any other symptoms? For instance, if the cam phasers aren't operating properly you might expect them to make noise or a poor idle or a fuel economy change. Ignition issues sometimes cause stuttering at cruise/light throttle. Etc.

If you have low power in 6th, you should also have low power in every other gear. No reason it should be confined to 6th gear. So there should be no need to be at a high speed for testing.

The issue I explain below is somewhat different than what you say you're experiencing but has similarities in the gears in which it happens in and has to do with power delivery:

I had intermittent power delivery in 5th and 6th gears when the transmission tailshaft sensor was faulty. At steady state cruise the engine would briefly (less than one second) have a power interruption. It was fixed under warranty.

It's a long shot, unlikely with such low mileage, but it could be plugged cats. You'd be down on power in every gear, but it would be more noticeable in 5th and 6th.

Crammer I hear ya man. But just spoke to the dealer. They believe it’s a backed out flange nut that monitors something with the transmission. Apparently there is a TSB for it which I’m attaching a screenshot of. They said the part is on back order because it is so new.

Thank you for posting this. On mine, if I am in 3rd on and off the throttle very lightly and then bring it to the floor it will occasionally barley accelerate. If I lift and bring my foot back done it clears up. Wonder if I am starting to have this issue.
