There new fix is coil packs and plugs. Apparently there have been misfires in cylinders 2,3 and 4. Not sure how this would have anything to do with 6th gear. No one from Ford has seen anything like this
Just an idea...
I wonder if this could be a low rpm high load detonation issue? If it is you should be able to repeat it in 5th gear at very low rpm. If the same phenomenon accures, at least you know it's detonation.
Did the previous owner have a tune on the car maybe, and the car is running wrong tune with stock components?
I’m not sure, I haven’t noticed an issue in 5th gear. Problem is I had the car for like 5 days before having this issue and didn’t drive it much. I don’t have much to compare to drivability of the car.
As far as the tune, that’s one thing I mentioned to the service manager. He said the tech looked into that and there is no indication there was ever a tune on the car. I didn’t buy the car from a Ford dealer. It’s just insane, I spent $53000 on the car. I thought 2018, 2500 miles, in pristine condition I’m good.......totally not the case. If this doesn’t fix the issue I’m going to contact a lawyer and start the lemon law process. At this point it’s severely impairing driving and resale value.
Update......
Ford has had the car for 3 straight weeks. I’ve heard from them twice since. Once to say they were hooking it up to something to be able to monitor more info and the second time (today) to say it may be a fuel issue. The service manger mentioned something called a spark knock, but even he said that’s not the issue. At this point, I don’t want the car back. I’m looking into having it declared a lemon and bought back. Extremely frustrating situation to be paying for a car you can’t drive. Especially a Shelby.
Yeh I’m not giving up on having a GT350, just giving up on this one. It has been a dream for a long time. C8 is sweet looking, but not my style. Too flashy and Im not sure if they offer it in a manual.
Just received word that Ford has approved my claim and is buying my car back. I’ll hear from the buy back department next week. The dealership has had the car for 37 straight days and they still have no clue how to fix it.
I have the same issue on my procharged 2018 GT350.....was quite shocking first time I drove the car...gears 1 to 5 have perfect power....when I shift to 6th it bogs down and it lacks power with hardly any acceleration...
So I immediately called a reputable Mustang shop and he said it is perfectly normal since 6th gear is an overdrive gear and only for highway cruising.....he also said never to race and shift to 6th as you can damage the engine.....he said always use 5th and take it to max rpm.....
Now it does makes sense but would be nice to confirm with all gt350 owners if this is indeed normal? This is the first car I ever drove with such a power drop on 6th
Sounds normal. 6th gear is like running through the shallow end of the pool while being chased in a dream. Only meant for maintaining current cruise speed on the highway.
