Does anyone else's GT350 go into quiet mode automatically in 6th gear?

On the highway ,in sport or loud mode, when I shift into 6th mine goes automatically into quiet mode. There are no head up display info saying that it did, but when I engage the clutch and rev it up you can tell its in quiet mode. Drop down into 5th and do the same it sound like it has to open the baffles up then goes into loud.

It's to prevent drone and it works marvelously.

On a similar topic, this is the first vehicle I've owned with a valve controlled exhaust. What's the lifespan of the valve/controller? I almost always put the exhaust into Sport mode after starting the car (since it defaults back to Normal apparently when you shut the car off) and I've been driving my car daily lately. I imagine it's not too expensive of a part/system.. I appreciate any insight into it!

I had one on my M3...and it was much more active (opening and closing at different RPMs). I never had any issues in the almost 2 years I had that car. This valve is more static, so I would imagine that it would last quite a while.

Fellas, at what speed do you even get to use 6th gear. I find I can't even get to it haha.

I only really use 6th on the highway when I want better fuel economy.

Me too. That's all 6th is good for, which is fine with me.

I did an economy run at 65 mph for several miles a couple of weeks ago - absolutely flat stretch of Interstate, no traffic, no AC or other accessories running, temperature in the low 70s, no wind - and averaged 31.9 mpg. As soon as I hit a hill or even touched the accelerator, the mpg took a dive.

It was no fun, and I promise to never do that again. :D

Any passing that wants to be done requires a downshift. 6th is very tall for a small displacement V8 with little low end.

Did a little over 700km this weekend and used 6th quite a bit. When on the Autobahn, kept it between 140-180 kph for extended periods, and was able to average better than 20mpg. Exhaust was in Sport mode, but 6th remained quiet unless I was really accelerating hard--hard acceleration is relative in 6th.
