a converter will allow the engine to rev quicker, also minimize rpm drop between shifts and get him into the powerband quicker from the hit.
Most are locked up already during 60-130 runs. So it shouldn’t be any different during shifts.

OP cam timing is short for optimum power. If you look at the VCT curves you can see what the cams are doing.

30 degrees is about the max for power, you can advance more but might lose power.

All true, but he is probably starting his pull at 6K. The 6R does have a large RPM drop between gears but would need a 5K or 6K converter to minimize RPM drop.
A 5K lock up might drive fine on the street but I have not tried it.
I have a 2C 2800-3k stall lockup converter. Locked the rpms go from 76-7700 to about 5500 average. Unlocked it went from 7700 to 6400. I’d say 6400-7700 is a better range in a coyote. Made a difference in all around performance

why do you think the 10r is such a “hit” amongst Na guys?

I'll let yall get back to nit picking over nothing.
Not nit picking gen 1 cams genuinely suck. So I would hope comp cams would give big gains.

If it is that loose then, yes it will help.

Is that the vct timing that’s in the log or do I need to log a different one?
It's in the log. VCT 1 & 2 intake and exhaust.

Looks like he is running the exhaust cams around 30 degrees and the intake varies from -21 to 0

I've seen logs with very similar cam timing from other tuners. Which is why I am asking if any have put these on a dyno or looked at the cam cards and used judgment.

L&M gives some baselines on where to set their cams up. I don’t know if comp does the same. I’d need a lot more info to know if 30 is a good number for the exhaust. The intake cam numbers look about right for an aftermarket cam. Stock would retard much more.

Is the rotating assembly heavier? People forget forged pistons/rods/cranks are heavier than the OEM stuff if you came from an earlier gen coyote. More rotating mass, less HP. That might be the difference.
Sinter forged rods and forged steel crank are pretty much the norm since gen 1 Coyote. Just better balancing for higher rpm acording the book.
