Does anyone know what this plug/wire in the glove box is? This is in a 2020 GT. I have read that 2020+ stopped including a glove box light (which I don't have), so no idea what else this could be for.

Did you buy your car new? My 20 GT I bought new doesn't have a glove box light or that wire hanging down either.

Fairly new. Only 3k miles, but did have a previous owner. A few other mods were already done when I got it, so no telling what they might have did.

Center speaker appears to work? Top middle of the dash? Maybe my hearing sucks but honestly kind of hard to tell with the all the side speakers and sound travel. Played with the fade settings and seems like sound is coming from it.

I'm attaching a diagram which might help.

There are two connectors in that area:

1. One for a glovebox bulb

2. One for a passenger airbag

IF the airbag was disconnected or missing, there would be an alarm, yes? I'd think so.

Post #1 mentioned this car is from around the period when Ford stopped installing the lamps. While they may have later updated the harness, at least for a time, they would have kept using the same wiring, just not attaching anything to it.

I'm curious if voltage is present when the glovebox is open (if a gb door switch is present).

Shouldn't be the airbag connector, I'm pretty sure all of those are yellow plastic.

Lets see the connector. It might be PP gauge connector.

Now that I look at some more references, I see that.

I'm attaching two more documents.

In one of the attached, it lists where all the connectors could be used. I searched for Mustang and saw that "WPT-1197" is listed as supporting glovebox lights.

Turning to the second document, I looked at what a WPT-1197 looks like; it looks a lot like the one in the photo above.

I'm left thinking Ford continued using the same harness, for how long IDK, and never attached anything to that socket. Maybe they continue to use it, thinking they know it's there, and could be used for something in the future.

It's a PP, so I do have the center console gauges for oil and vac working.

Based on the diagram definately looks like it might be for airbag or glove box light. But yea, no warning lights for airbag.

I realize there's not much of the wires showing but if you can figure out the colors we may be able to pin the connector function.

Glove box light connector. Ford is too cheap to include a glove box light and even cheaper to revise the wire harness to omit it.

I guess I got lucky, or maybe it was part of the Premium or 401A packages. My '20 (built 6/16/20) has the light.

A convenient hot wire for radar, cam, other?

I can't believe they cheaped out so much and deleted glove box light when they should have added cooling.
