That is definately not normal, hope they fix the problem by replacing those seals.
How did you get a hold of one of the mechanics who works at the Romeo plant ?

I'm going to my Ford dealership tomorrow morning for that annoying rattle that's been driving me crazy since i got the car.

Hoping your issue gets resolved in a timely manner. Keep us in the loop.
A fellow by the name of George Sonny Moody from the romeo engine plant asked to join a gt350 owners group i am part of on facebook. We all said hell yes!! He sent me a picture of Nick and James (the guys who built my engine)I am still awaiting to hear what he thinks about the leaking valve seal issue however us older guys(of which he is one) dont necessarily check our facebook stuff daily so I patiently await his response.Dan if it makes you feel any better I have that rattle as well..Its just way down the priority list lol.

FWIW, I ran your situation by a long time friend who was a Ford dealership mechanic, then Service manager since back in the 60's. This guy has worked on Fords all his life and he's older than I am and I hit 60 last year. I also spoke to another friend who builds engines. Both agreed that a leak test will not determine a leaking valve seal and that a leaking seal invariably smokes worst on initial start up . Oddly enough they commented that they would keep a close eye on the oil level and drive it awhile and not baby the engine as it is possible that the engine has not seated the rings yet. BTW, the older guys wife has a '65 convertible that is all original and looks like brand new.

Good luck and hope you get this sorted out soon.
Awesome .Thanks for your help!! This engine has seen plenty of WOT. Even at break in I was cautious not to lug it .Lots of varied throttle and a couple of 6000/7000 pulls in the first hundred miles. Immediately after that I really worked it hard even hitting limp mode three times now. Still dumping the oil in it and driving it hard hoping the mechanics are correct as I had the same info from my own mechanic who builds race engines and is a wealth of knowledge.

You can get the tools to perform a cylinder leak down test for $100 or less and run your own test. If you have a stuck piston ring or a cylinder leaking past the rings, seats, or gaskets you'll know pretty quick. Search YouTube and you'll find several videos on how to run the test, it's not complicated.

The dealer did a cylinder leak down test already and told me it's perfect and even in all cylinders. The odd thing is that using this same format of test they determined to replace two valve seals. That's the part that I'm questioning

Changing the seals is not a big deal. Pull the valve cover, rotate the engine to get the valve closed, and apply air pressure to hold the valve closed while removing the lock and spring. Once the seal is replaced just reverse the procedure. You don't have to pull the heads to do it. I'd trust any competent mechanic to do this. It can't be too hard, I've done it myself :D

In any case I wish you luck and wait to see how this comes out.

Yeah pretty straightforward alright. I'm gonna let them do it just waiting for them to call me that they've received the seals from Ford. I've added half a case of oil now so it's getting rather ridiculous.Someone on here had mentioned that it is possible that the cats are so efficient on this car it could explain the total lack of smoke on startup and that I should suggest they replace them as well if the valve seals are the cure.

Definitely go for the new cats and escalate the issue up the chain if you need to. Half a case of oil has been through them. They can't be cheap.

This might sound kind of stupid but did you check the radiator and overflow tank for traces of oil? also An emissions test might show what side the oil is disappearing in

I hear ´ya , of course your oil comcumption issue is priority #1.

Went to the dealership on Wednesday and had it checkey by their master tech.

Like i predicted, he wasn't able to pinpoint what was wrong but positively identified the rattle which is pretty lound on my car compare to two other 350's that my friends own. Mine is really the loudest even when warm.

So they contacted Ford hotline and will have to bring in my car once more to have some tests performed.

So hopefully weather permitting, i will be going back sometimes next week.

To be continued......

Dan is this sound coming from under the car near the front of the tranny?

Yes i think so, that's what my friend told me anyways. I'm thinking it might be related to the clutch or engine plate block.

Whatever it is, it has nothing to do with piston slap. Don't think a sound recording would be bevery conclusive with engine running .

Mine was doing it the first week. Sounded like the clutch idler assembly was acting up ( sounds like swishing bolts around in an empty coffee can). Was loudest parked in neutral. Push in the clutch it would go away. Its completely gone now. Wondering if it was something to do with the dual clutch plate assembly breaking in??
