Does anyone think that the Voodoo will follow the Coyote path next year, and gain the direct injection/port injection combo with a bump in compression? A 13:1 or 14:1 compression ratio could be feasible with the new fuel system. Maybe 550+ stock horsepower with better low end.

I think what they said was that direct injection rather than port injection didn't offer enough pros over cons in a naturally aspirated engine. With a combination style injection system though, that's addressed. They will already have the hardware for it because of the 2018 Mustang GT too. Increasing compression to 13-14:1 would also make it roughly 7-14% more fuel efficient. That isn't a big deal to most of us, but it may be in Ford's eyes.

With the little bit of info out there for the 2018 5.0 upgrades, I'm guessing that they're going to have the GT350 intake, TB, and CAI now. The power from that, plus the increase from 11:1 to 12:1 compression should bump the GT to the advertised 7500RPM redline and bring power into the 470-480 range with more low end power than before. It makes sense to me that the GT350 COULD get the new fuel system and a bump in compression to keep the gap more substantial.

With the Magneride option, retuned suspension, better tires, more power, and a broader power band coming to the Mustang GT, it seems to me that its road course capabilities may be encroaching upon GT350 and Camaro 1LE territory. I know that the GT350 is still more unique, but is Ford OK with its base car's performance potentially stepping on its flagship's toes?

All valid points, but I personally don't think there will be a 19 GT350. If there was an 18 redesign I'd be more apt to believe there might be, but it is possible. I don't think the GT500/cobra has to worry about any toes getting stepped on.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY Hope the gt350 is dead after 2018. That includes the voodoo. I was hoping the 2017 was the end. They are not making any changes to the 2018 body or engine and I highly doubt a 19 is in the works.

I doubt they would increase the cr ratio much if any. Don't forget it already has to detune hard with 91 octane , and wants 100+ from the factory.

There is plenty of HP in just increasing its tolerance to non race fuels

The new fuel system would help with that. Cylinder cooling is one of the main advantages to using direct injection. Even if the CR stayed at 12:1, I think DI would give them an opportunity to tune more aggressively.

I really hope Ford uses this engine for more than three years after all that work they've done.

I would hope the Voodoo continues so the support and development will continue as well.

Yep, that's how i feel as well, we're mostly to see a SE or GT500 next year.

I could very well be in the market for a SE Mach1 if they ever build one.

If the demand is good for the 2018 GT350 , there most likely will be a 2019 GT350 with DI/PI headed Voodoo engine.

If they're going to run two body styles for this cycle makes more sense to do it for an additional year (2019) especially if it won't cost anything more to continue. Even into 2020 as demand naturally tapers off and we await the new 2021 car.

No. There will not. The FPC will be gone, but the block and heads will live on. There will be something else special though.

No, It will either go away or remain mechanically unchanged.

The most change I could see in updating the exterior piece so Ford does have to have different head lights and tail lights.
