The problem is not that bad. It only happens in the perfect conditions and there are no CEL's being thrown. So for now yes. I do plan on filling up with premium from now on to see if my theory is correct. I will hopefully only be driving it a week or two more without a tune.

And my suspicion has been confirmed. Filled up with 92 today and could hear and feel the difference by the time I got home. The car is MUCH happier now and the hesitation is (mostly) gone. I will have tomorrow to really determine if the stutter is gone but it seems like it is. So what do I think is happening here? I think the car is just on the edge of throwing a lean code in terms of AFR. At 3k under load the knock sensors think they are approaching a pre-detonation environment so in order to prevent this the PCM is cutting the throttle. A higher octane fuel is more resistant to detonation which is why my stutter is nearly gone.

Moral of the story? Don't expect to put on an LT catless exhaust without getting a tune.

Add a touch more bass and "presence" If you will to that video and that is what it sounds like in the real world!

The need for the tune was disappointing... I had to stretch myself a bit to get it... That means big ticket mods are over for the summer and fall. I have to start doing the responsible thing and start saving for the time I am in class...

Yeah we could do that. I have a question I been meaning to ask you? How does that 302 mustang you have compare to yours in speed and power and such? I know it's older but is it faster or just a cruising car?

Zack, out of curiosity... did you check the TB spacer as well to make sure you don't have a leak?

I actually removed the TB spacer and do not plan on reinstalling it unless I see a benefit with it in the tune. When I removed it I still had my cai on and I noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in response and low end power. I don't exactly know why but Tom y from supersix observed the same behavior on their car. I believe the dyno difference was 9hp.
