Wait,.,... according to the King Kona this cannot be true.........
Guess you missed that he wrote "I have a 2008 infiniti g35x that I traded a pistol for when it had 187,000 miles".

Just because someone else did shit tons of repairs and maintenance on it up to the 187,00 mile mark, doesn't mean it got to all those miles without said repairs and maintenance.

these kinds of discussions are kinda dumb. in a world devoid of mechanical sympathy because everything is treated as disposable its a small wonder that any of these cars last as along as they do.

oh the MT82 is garbage because i ignore the feedback it gives through touch
oh the 10spd sucks because it shifts hard sometimes or can't handle doubling the herspers
oh i broke an axle cause i launched at 5K rpms for the 500th time and ignored the wheel hop again

in the words of our illustrious POTUS: c'mon maaaan.

Then there are cars like a used 2007 Honda Fit we bought with 55,000 miles on it and the only thing other than oil changes, coolant & brake flushes, tires, battery, wiper blades, brake pads (all normal wearable maintenance stuff) that I had replaced on it when we sold it with about 120K miles on it were the 2 rear shocks and the condenser fan motor. Everything else was original (starter, alternator, A/C system components, power windows, ABS, electric steering system, radiator, hoses, water pump, etc.). We sold it when it was 14 years old.
Nice! I think at 140k, the only two things we had done on the 120k extended warranty was a window motor and the first time the AC condenser went kaput. Most of the other stuff was only dealt with to keep the car rolling as needed and a new car note was not a better option if it only needed items that should have been replaced a long time ago. That and if the amount spent so far on repairs averaged per year was a fraction of what i would have paid had i kept paying on the previous note, which acts as my barometer when a car has been a good reliable car in reasonable condition and i need to know if it's still worth it.

I like to tell people that half the county's pot holes live on the 5 streets in and around my neighborhood, and I feel like it isn't really that much of an exaggeration. Suspension, and apparently motor mounts, had to become accelerated maintenance items after we moved into our current home. I did about 80% of the suspension and all 3 motor mounts within a week span at about 230k. We had pushed it so far, that the car would BOOM over the seams in the concrete at any speed over 30 or so. Was a very sketchy going into work there for a while. After replacing a laundry list of suspension components, that boom remained, so i had them check the mounts as I've had some experience with broken mounts. All 3 were compromised in some way, secondary one had a crack and the main one was in two pieces. Epic stuff. Unshockingly, after all that it drove like a brand new car until it was totaled.

Ironically, I never replaced the clutch though. It was my first manual daily driver, so i kept expecting it to go, almost from the start. That is until about 220k or so, after which i decided that it was just gonna go forever. I know logically that one day there is just gonna be nothing left, but it just wasnt happening any time soon apparently. When it made it to 300k i was gonna contact mazda and ask wth kind of clutch did they put in this thing and say they should check this one out so they can make them all last like this one!

I got the car from my brother..
No repairs, just oil changes and brake pads. Lol the whole reason he traded the car was because it was smoking...turns out the serpentine belt was disintegrating and the cords were getting all wound up in the driven accessories. I pulled the belt and you could actually see through holes in it and it was about 1/2 the width of a new one. I asked him about the transmission fluid and he just shook his head. He did say he had the oil changed religiously! Freaking lawyers lol.

Just as crazy I have a 2008 infiniti g35x that I traded a pistol for when it had 187,000 miles...it now has 233,000 miles and EVERYTHING works and burns NO oil. It's insane. Also quite quick.
I am interested in Infinity. What MPG do you get in town and interstate

23.5 mostly highway. I drive it 800 miles a week currently. Change oil about every 7-8 thousand. No discernible usage between changes. Amazing car; I would definitely buy another. I was never a Nissan/Infiniti fan prior, but this car has completely changed my perspective. The AWD isn't even hard on tires.

I put 238,000 miles on a 1988 Prelude. Replaced damn near everything.....twice.
I owned an '87 Accord. Man that thing was garbage. What a terrible vehicle. At the time I was used to driving late 80s Fords. They still needed some maintenance and fixes, but it was a lot less and the parts were much easier to replace.

Planned obsolescence and outsourced everything. Enough said.
