I need to join as well, had to pay out of pocket for mine when the input shaft bearing went at 40k.

Next they need to file a class action lawsuit for the dogshit made in Turkey clutches for the 15-17 MT82's

Zero issues with my two MT82's 2013 GT with 95k and 2015 GT with 20k and both were driven to be driven.

I've been driving manual for 15+ years and these transmission are leaps and bounds ahead of the T-5/T-45's.

If this lawsuit is real, I'm shocked it took this long to come out because of all the discussion over the years. I'm not sure if I was lucky enough to get a good QC'd Trans but in my experience, I've had zero issues with the MT82's.

I'm really surprised the lawsuit included the D4 version, which reportedly addressed previous issues, and added dual-mass flywheel and dual-plate clutch. I've been driving sticks for decades (58 here), and also agree the tranny on my Bullitt is better than most I've owned, and they've been a few. Yeah, it's still notchy until fully hot, but that's normal. And it will probably get better after break-in. I really like the mechanical feel to it, with the expected 'nibbling'. If you want a smooth tranny, get a Porsche or BMW... but I MUCH prefer this one (and it's ratios too) over the other 2 (both Getrag as well), with their rubbery cable-actuated linkages. No thank you. Ha ha. This one feels like it's talking to you, demanding smoothness if you don't want it to pass along your shifting 'indiscretions'. Ha ha. It's making me a better driver, and so is the clutch :D. So NO, I won't be joining anything, where just the freaking lawyers win anyway.

I like my MT82, it is better in shift feel than many other transmissions I've owned. Using different fluid and a shifter bracket helped tremendously though.
Hey, out of curiosity, which fluid did you use? And at how many miles you changed it? Thx.

I used Amsoil MTF and I changed it at about 26k miles. Amsoil MTF is about as close to the middle of viscosity of the two oils Ford tried. Ford initially tried a very heavy oil for the pre-S550 MT82's and then went with practically water (The DCT fluid they have been using). I mapped out a lot of viscosities and figured I'd try something in the middle.

Interesting. Personally, I don't think it's that bad. I've had my s550 for over 4 years now with a lot of track time in it and other than my particular one having a decent amount of gear whine I think its ok.

Full disclosure though, I did install a Steeda Trans Bushing and been using Red Line Oil Trans fluid for about 3 years now. I've also owned several performance vehicles that were manual too so maybe experience is skewing my opinion.

Wish you all the best of luck! :like:

I've been using BG fluid in mine along with a Steeda tri-ax. Haven't had any issues.

Ya know, with all of the whining about the MT-82, I'm really surprised that Steeda or some other company has not engineered and produced a Tremec upgrade kit, including all the needed parts to insure fitment and reliability. It might be pricey, but at least those who wanted to could do it without all the guesswork if trying it on their own. Maybe a kit does exist, but I have never heard it mentioned.

I had Tremecs on my Vettes, and MUCH prefer the Getrag on the Bullitt. If anything, Steeda (and others) could just make upgraded components that need upgrading when driven hard; that's all. No need to replace the entire tranny when nothing is fundamentally wrong, especially the newer D4s.

Seems like you and me bought the twins. I am on my second Turkey clutch and it vibrates all to help at 1500 rpms. It did it upon installation with the new getrag. Tranny tech said no problem and it's documented.

I have to wait a full 4 seconds to get the car into reverse. Been driving manuals since 93'. I'm eating clutches for some reason... Crank walk?.... Idk

Sorry to hear that, I didn't waste my money putting another made in Turkey clutch in mine. I swapped in a McLeod RST and never had anymore clutch issues with it. But then the input shaft bearing went shortly after so I called it quits on the car, fixed it, and traded it in. Only put about 15k on it in the span of 14 months and had to pull the trans twice on jack stands lol. Fun times

Hope you get yours sorted out.

i'm new to driving standard trans and I notice in my 19' at stop lights i'll prepare for the light to change / or just going 1st to 2 second (with the clutch pressed in) and when I put it in first it thuds into gear.. But I can take it out of gear and put it back in gear within a couple seconds of itself and it doesn't make that noise. It's not a clank or metal on metal just a audible thud. Any opinions?

It's normal for that trans, mine did it too
