you should read Mullaly's book. Ford was/is a cesspool of incompetence and horrible mis-management. I'm sure GM is no better.

Yes, and his position as the Ford CEO at the top made positive changes ... that's what I'm saying. If top management can't manage and flow it all down to the lower levels of management then it's not going to happen very effectively, if all all. He took what he learned at Boeing and applied it to Ford. Not too sure about the current top management at Ford. Seems like they are ineffective in some areas.
