So I just tested my unused Boundary OPG and below are the results. The tester is within calibration and was verified with a calibration block prior to the tests.

Yeah, that's what the standard product runs. We keep all mill spec on our product for the last 20 years, along with all clearances for each pump and gear set since it's 100% inspect. All we need is the serial number to verify.

Martenwear gears use a progressive heat treat that surface hardens the gear to hrc 55-60. Those run 299.

I actually think for a core and good wear surface hrc 30 to 40 is ideal. The gear will deform before cracking if something large gets in it giving you time to shut it down.

Most of the gears you see damaged on the market are caused by debris, but some are clearancing issues or hardness related.

From our research
16 to 30 is 8000 or less
30 to 40 is 9000 or less
40 to 50 11000 or less
And our Martenwear have tested out to 13,000 which is 55+. We haven't found any takers going higher.

These can vary because of two step use, line lock, heavy crankwalk caused by extreme levels of forced induction.

The ability for oil pump gears to absorb garbage/deform is paramount over hardness 24/7. certain harmonics can cause certain hardness OPG to shatter like glass. Obviously, not good. As stated earlier, clearances seems to be the issue. The ability to keep good oil pressure/volume vs being to tight as to cause scoring. The 'happy medium' factor.

My situation was 2 fold the clearance was bad and the gear was soft and the finish on it when i got it was hideous.

I've sworn off MMR completely based on my personal experience with their products, inexcusably poor machining and non-existent quality controls. For the money the FRPP gearset is the best choice, because whoever the supplier is knows they have to answer to FORD regarding any issues, not just some schmuck sending angry emails.

So Fedex came through fast as fast can be and the TSS gears just showed up. Sadly my machine shop closed 10 minutes before they arrived. This is very exciting. Up to this point i think they are money well spent but the HRC will seal the deal.

Seems too tight. Especially with expansion coefficient.

did you watch the video that i shared a link to.? I could be wrong but the outter ring will grow with heat more so than the center gear, pure speculation

did you watch the video that i shared a link to.? I could be wrong but the outter ring will grow with heat more so than the center gear, pure speculation
.001 for width clearance. The distance between the housing top of the pocket and the top of the gear when placed in the pocket. The outer diameter to the housing is usually called the body clearance. We don't make them that tight because people find it hard to make them fit, and I've seen split housings if you get too much crank walk. It basically binds in the housing.

Also tooth to tooth between brands is hard to compare. It depends on the gerotor geometry. The tooth to tooth is a guide but isn't necessarily how tightly the gears mesh and seal. .002 to .0055 is the general range tip to tip should be in. Past that performance really starts to suffer.

I just re watched you video and i don't see that any of the clearances are too small or have you changed your criteria.
