That is the point of this thread, hopefully no one else does what i did and assume i was getting top quality parts. Bottom line , inspect and measure and keep shit clean clean clean. and cut that filter open A filter cutter is under a 100bux an engine is 15g . If you go inside an engine its worth the bit of time it takes to inspect the filter.

So for anyone still playing along :) i had the TSS and Ford gears tested. The ford gears are too soft to register and the TSS tested at 32 .

Ford for the win. More aftermarket manufacturers need to worry less about hardness. Unless you got a handful of viagra. Haha.

Well it can be too hard and it can be too soft , it needs to be just right. The gear needs to be durable and able to pass debris without breaking. My first set of gears was bad in multiple ways.

100%. That said, you've provided a lot of 'food for thought' info here. I appreciate it very much !

Agree 100% with the above sentiments. Good informative tech thread and @socketman has provided a lot more insight than any other OPG thread on here.

I wonder if we can somehow compile it into an FYI sticky (MODs this is a good thread to sticky in the Coyote section).

Too bad there’s no way to get a Go-Pro cam to record internal action of different OPG sets (that would be cool).

I dont have boundary gears for my comparison but the TSS look good to the eye and measure really good and hardness seems to be in line with boundary. I am going with the TSS but its a bit more expensive. but given that i have to do it twice plus i am replacing the oil cooler i will not be recommending MMR .

China steel strikes again. Shows they have gotten lazy on their QC monitoring.
yes...and some companies like to have users do their beta testing. Then they have your money while relying on a low probability of getting hammered too badly in the 'back and forth' game when things go wrong. The usual giveaway is that instead of being concerned they quickly become defensive and blame the user.

I don't get why georotor pump gears are so hard to make properly, it's not like they're experimental.

@socketman great thread, hang tough and many thanks for putting the detail out there.

They are not hard to make and here is what i think the issue is. Someone in the aftermarket identifies a deficiency and makes a good part to fix said deficiency then along comes another company that wants a piece of that action and they try to compete with price since there is no way to improve the upgrade and the decline in quality naturally follows. There is bread at the store i like, and since raising the price may cause me to choose another brand they shrink the loaf by 80 grams which makes shipping cheaper and the hope we dont notice. Now i feel TSS decided rather than get rich off one product trying to dominate the market they just sell a good part and charge accordingly.
